Hey Kevin ( I mean Dave Young posting as Kevin Hillman) Good post from Jok Nicholson. ( I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but at least Jok used his real name when he posted his opinion. I think it carrys more weight what that is done. Come on, you can do it. LOL http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif Jim Schaechter 3163

My dad has a great idea. Since the class money is next to nothing anymore, why don't we get contingency money for the top 32 qualifiers in Stock and Super Stock? Get more manufacturers paying, and they would actually pay out less and not have to pay out for class singles!

Removing wheelie bars from many of todays stockers is not a good idea. A racer can easily do a lot of damgae to his car from having to lift during a big wheelstand. What sense does that make when many many cars are capable of going up very high.

"look no further than SS/AH" Correct but for the wrong reason. They are popular because they run Heads up no break out first man there wins. Class racing IS ENJOYABLE for everyone. Dont have to be a 30 yr racer, wife of same or kids of family to understand HE WON HE GOT THERE FIRST.
On the other hand ...You got it.NO ONE CARES but the racer himself. Foot brake only. no buttons, no boxes no magnetic clutchs KEEP it SIMPLE and it will be FAIR. Dick Butler 3529 |
A contradictory pile of crap!

From someone who is beginning to get into Stk, it would be nice to race by the foot brake. With no electronics, it would put driver/car against driver/car. Plus I would not have to worry about all the extra electronics to buy,. Put that money to use somewhere else such as expenses/travel/entry. But what do I know, I am not out there yet. [:-unhappy-:]

I'm opposed to the one driver-one class rule, for the reason that it would increase the cost to me of operating my car. I get a great driver (Lee Zane) who usually goes to a race with another car. And I'm not the only guy who is in this position.
My two cents (I own a comp car-I can't afford more than that. |
Dumb..."take stock back to stock"but lts get rid of heads-ups during eliminations...his class vs eliminations theory is crazy..."get rid of wheelie bars" then he wants to move the stockers that need wheelie bars and find a place for them in ss...and I dont see why there is such a big problem with ss/mod cars, high rpm, whels stands and 165 mph, wheres the problem? And limit racers on car ammount and rig size (indirectly)...the rig does not make the racer, we cant all afford big rigs but half of the guys with the BIGGEST rigs just have fun and party (ducks)...I wont even get started on the button issue, but from what I can tell and find (my research skills suck) hes a button pusher too!

Hey Buce, why don't you really tell us how you feel?
Greg |
Hey Greg, No need to waste a lot of words on this one. See ya at the races.

Doing away with heads up runs is not a good idea, but the rest of the story hits the nail right on the head. The idea of the qualifing money is a geat idea too. Do you hear us Len????????????????????How about working hard to get the pay outs up at the Division races also. Read some where that NHRA only pays back 20 % of its profit back to the racers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good post Give stock back to the real racers.

This guys article is partly crap. There is a good idea in one or two cases but this " Let them run class heads-up but NOT in eliminations; let?s see which one of them can drive " Let this clown build a 9 sec Pro footbreak et car and run against those guys all day long. All these bracket guys with the eleminate heads up races in eliminations have one thing in mind. THERE OWN ADJENDA. They don't have to learn or spend the money to make there car run well. Before you know it, you have a field of cement mixers. You can score big at a Pro et race or the bracket finals. You can run that kind of racing all over. There is no reason to walk away from that if you don't like our rules. Whats great about our racing is it allows great drivers to win races, but gives an advantage to a guy who likes to work on his car and make it run well. It's still about building a hot rod (to a small extent)
In all due respect to this guy, or class is doing well (for the most part and guys are building new cars all the time) he should figure out a way to make some other form a racing better. Todd Hoven 1035 I/SA 72 Pontiac GTO |
once again some AUTHORITY asshole who want so make wholesale changes in MY CLASS...
well sports fans there is plenty of interest in stock & superstock unfortunaltely some keyboard pounders think they are appointed god and want to make themselves the saviour. if you think we are broken look at this past weekend at pats place... spectators galore, pits full, everyone having fun... what happened ??? hell pat spent some time and money promoting his race and the spectators got to see us RUN CLASS.... it was great !!!!!!!!!!!!! unlike INDY when we are all done before the spectator gets off work friday and all they get to see are a few bracket rounds we run. our class aint broke, it has been bent all to hell with NHRA allowing too much bull****, and not enforcing thier own damn rules. Class winners have ALWAYS BEEN THE QUALIFIERS, then the field is filled with the other fastest cars... heads up are ALWAYS part of the game... remember we are a performance oriented class. get rid of the electronics, and enforce the rules... and let us run at least all class finals on saturday am at indy, others... it will be a start jack mccarthy p.s. dale rogers idea... reality show (like pimp / pinks) follows one class racer through class elimination day... starts with night before ends with class final... i bet hes right, it would draw attention... if the idiots will watch pimp my ride and pinks this might be a hit ???????????????? woulda been cool to follow bob schroeder on saturday...nice job, nice show |
