"Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Autometer
1 Attachment(s)
Well not quite yet!
I will be leaving the compound about 6am in the morning to start the trip up to Numidia Dragway and the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout. This is technically the 3rd year this event has been held up at Numidia as it's an offspring of the Combo in the Hills event that was run by Lee & Brian the past 2 years. I should be at the track about 10am to start set-up. Nitro Joe is probably already there or close by unless one of the cornfield consumed the Nitro Lounge but, he might be able to chime in with some insight and pics once he get's settled in for the night! I do have to give thanks to all the sponsors who have come on board for this event. A very special Thanks to Kevin Cradduck from Nitroplate & Marc Erickson from Autometer for becoming the title & associate sponsors of this event. Next time when you go to choose a sponsor over the winter to get new parts or upgrade your current combination please look at the 30+ sponsors who came on board for this event. These truly are the Guys & Gals who support Sportsman Racing! Tomorrow gates will open at 10am till 11pm for parking! Friday Gates open at 8am with the Free Test & Tune starting at 10am till about 2pm. At 12:30 during the test and tune we will run the Micro-Strategies CIC throwdown time shot with 1st round about 1:30pm. With cold temps scheduled for this weekend we are going to try to get as much as we can in on Friday Night with both the CIC Race & Quickfuel Combo race in before the Street Cars start to roll in at 5pm. Saturday Gates open at 8am with racing starting at 9:30am SHARP! Sunday Gates open at 8am if there is enough interest we will add a Stock or Super Stock Gamblers race to the schedule but, we will see how many people want to do this or not. Well I have a few more items to pack then I will be coming to you live from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Autometer tomorrow morning! Hope to see a lot of racers make it out to this event! |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
I will arrive Friday morning with my son and driver Bryan as we only have one car together right now. Wouldn't miss this race for anything it doesn't get any better than this. All you racers that bitch and moan about NHRA treating you bad at divisionals etc. and cramming too many classes in one race are missing your chance to put up or shut up.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
I'll be heading out Friday morning at first light and should make Numidia, PA (home track of the legendary SS racer, Joe Scott, by the way) by 10:00. Echoing what others have said, this is grass roots class racing at its best. Be there or be square...

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Should be arriving at 8 am on Fri. Looking forward to announcing this event again this year. This is a truly great independent race that all can participate in and enjoy, can't wait to see old friends and meet new ones too. Again, like last year, come visit in the tower and even try some announcing. Great track and cooler temps should have everyone real fast also. See you tomorrow!

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Rob and his crew have worked very hard to put this event together. It is an outstanding format for sportsman racers and I hope it is a huge success. We at NitroPlate are thrilled to be able to provide a little support. Thank you Rob for taking the baton from Lee and Brian and working so hard to make this event even bigger and better.
Looks like the weather is going to be exceptional. Wish I could be there with my trusty stocker but just not able to get away. Please keep the updates and some pictures coming. I'll have to be living vicariously through all of you this weekend:) Kevin |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
cant make it this year, really sucks as we had a blast last year. Looking back, it was our favorite race of the year. Didn't do very well in the CIC race, but it was the most fun of the weekend!...that and coming second in the million car open comp bracket race friday night! Good luck to all that are headed there, and to those on the fence...GET OFF and go. it is a great time.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Well I got to the track about 10am this morning and started setting up the banners and getting things set-up. Big Mike Summers has the track prepped and I heard that their will be a special water box helped this weekend in Keith H. From Maple Grove.
Joe Jackson and I have worked hard this morning and has been a huge help. We are currently in the motorhome as I think toto and the wizard of oz just landed with a monsoon just hit the track! If you are traveling up the Lehigh Tunnel has an accident and speaking from a few people looks like they have been sitting for over 2 hours. So beware! |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Rob, was planning on getting in Friday around 2pm for the Micro stk/ss race that evening.
Seems the time has changed to the afternoon? Let me know, if the race is earlier I will come sat am. Looking forward to some great racing. |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Joe,
The CIC race is to start at 12:30 for 1st time shot. The combo race should start around 3pm. I was going to start later but, with temps scheduled to be in the mid-40's that I wanted to start early. Rob |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Storms rolled through Pittsburgh a few hours ago and it's georgeous now
Fronts are moving west to east and there is usually around an 8 hour time from the burgh to eastern pa, so you might get some more downpours tonight, but it will be beautiful by morning See you all tomorrow. Kevin |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Just like the last time I was out at Numidia in July......the Kansas like storm you/we got hit with out there rumbled it's way here to my home in NJ about 120 miles east....
My power is out and has been for at least an hour now and thanks to my generator I have lights......water....TV and internet....but not much else....good thing I know someone in the generator business who can make this all work.......ME.... I would rather be at Numidia......Hope you have a good turnout and a great race Rob..... |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Good Morning Ladies and Gents,
Yes it is Day #1 of the Nitroplate Stock/SS shootout presented by Autometer here at Numidia. Had about 25-30 rigs roll in last night and it was a mix of .90 cars and Stk/SS. Parking may become a small issue as many more are scheduled to come in this morning at 8am but, Nitro Joe is on it and will have it under control. If we have too we will park on the other side as they finished up the paving job of the return road yesterday. So we look forward to a great day of racing! Gates open at 8am with test and tune to start around 10am. Had a small rain shower at 1am so track drying will take just a little bit longer but, Mike and Keith will have the track in tip top shape! I will try to post pics throughout the day but, the Internet is a little slow being up in the mountains! |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Well we ran the Quickfuel Stock/SS combo race earlier today. We ran the free test and tune till about 2:45 before starting the shootout. The winners today were:
Ryan Horansky over Jeff Tripp Semis: Brittany Boltz Congrats to everyone! |

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Well Day #2 is upon us here at Numidia. First off thank you to all the racers who made it out to this event and supported it. I haven't gotten a chance to take a look at the pits this morning to see who in all came in last night but, once the sun breaks ill have a better understanding.
Slight dew shower came in and made things a little wet and it sure did get cold overnight. Racing it too start at 9:30 but, I think we might be a little delayed until the sun comes out and puts some heat into the air. Thanks once again to all the racers who made the trip to Numidia!! |

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
What a change from hot n muggy Bowling Green from just a couple weeks ago! At 10:21 it was a brisk 56.6F, 29.02 baro, 62%, all adding up to a DA of 1103', with a pretty stiff headwind of 7 knots (whatever that is in mph...)
Asdourian couldn't believe the hook. Even making some clutch adjustments coming in to the day, it still dragged the motor down. Even the Duck got up in the air pretty good. Fun! |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Had a very fortunate day and won over John Leach in the finals, .030, taking .017. Great to have my folks here to see it!

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Congrats to all the winners and all that participated in this excellent event. Everyone drove well, some killer packages were almost the norm in many of the match ups. A big thanks to Rob Keister for having me back this year. Also the Dimino family and all of their staff were excellent to work with as always, the track worked both days as many of the racers ran their numbers regularly. This was certainly a fun event, to bad it wasn't a bit better attended. A special thanks to the Bender family, Bob, Penny and Zack as they had coffee for me both mornings and a very fine spagetti dinner on Friday night. These are special people who have FUN any time they are racing. I hope to see them and many others at our Lee Sherman Memorial Stock / Super Stock event on Nov. 2 & 3 at Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown Md. Good luck to all at the MG National Event and at the Dutch. Race safe, see you all again soon.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
How many S/SS cars are in the tri state area? How is it possible that the participation at Numidia was as low as it was ? Maybe because those valuable NHRA pts. arent awarded? Guys will travel half way around the country to race at an event then bitch because they haven't received there contigency $$.These guys promote a race where the winner is taken home $3000 cash in your pocket and no one shows. Does it make sense to go to races where your spending more to participate then you can win?Maybe if the winner was given a Wally instead of Cash $$ the house would have been packed?I would like to thank all involved for promoting the race and HOPE some how there will be more like it in the future.

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Joe, you have a point there... The super comp and super gas cars earns points at Numidia towards the MASCA, and MASGA series races respectively. We finish up the points series for the ECSSSA race in two weeks at Atco. Next year maybe Rob could work with Dave Ley and have one or both of the final points days up at Numidia. Just a thought...
I dont think that would hurt the car count and like it or not, points series make it interesting. Maybe even invite the ASRA guys down for a battle between North East Stock/SuperStock series, with points for their respective associations... And I do applaud Rob for his efforts. Cant wait to see RobzNeedForSpeed videos of the event. |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
I couldn't have said it any better than Joe Zoom. Had a great time and can't thank the people and sponsors enough. I can only believe we have a lot of primadonas in Div. 1. I know some were at Charlotte chasing championships but where were the rest of you?

Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
Thanks also to DragRaceResults for paying contingency! Just buying a couple of stickers over the winter, got to cash in several times this year. Great deal!
http://www.dragraceresults.com/fullstory.cfm?id=4730 Numidia is kind of my second home, as I grew up in central PA. Beaver Springs is my home track, but Team Beaver used to invade Numidia whenever our schedule allowed. :D Great to have mom and dad with me! https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...60377255_n.jpg Photo by RobzNeed4Speed, https://www.facebook.com/robzneed4speed |
Re: "Live" from the Nitroplate Stock/SS Shootout by Automete
I just wanted to come on here and say "Thanks" to all the racers who came out and supported the event and worked with me when we saw that the car count wasn't looking too good and we made it into a combo event. I spoke with a lot of racers over the weekend about how we could improve the event if we decided to do another one in 2014 and I got a lot of good feedback. I guess between Charlotte, MIR having the Stick Shift Nationals and the Hot Rod Reunion event at Epping it was just bad timing to try and draw a lot cars for the event. I do applaud some of the racers who blew stuff up Friday and did everything in their power to piece it back together so they could race on Saturday. Temps were a little cold but, we were done all 3 days no later then 6pm with the winners crowned. A big hats off to Mike Summers and the Numidia crew for an awesome track and Keith Hildebrant from Maple Grove who worked the waterbox over the weekend and did track prep! A big thanks to Nitro Joe who came out from Ohio to help keep me sane and Mike Bassin who did the announcing over the 2 days. Also Gina "Cupcake" Mocci for helping with registration and Rob Jackson's wife Rose for helping out Gina at the booth. Also the Donhausers and the crew from the Moose who put on an excellent BBQ. Thank you all for the support. I'm going to weigh out the options for 2014 and see where is takes me. I'd love to work with Dave Ley and the ASRA guys with a shoot out Friday Night "ECSSA vs. ASRA who's the best on the northeast?"
Once again thanks to all the racers for their support at this event along with the sponsors help! I couldn't do it without any of you guys!! |
