Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
We'll hopefully it changes back to that forecast, just looked at it today rain from Thursday till Monday! Wouldn't be the Dutch without some rain. I guess you can say we were pretty lucky, no rain for something like 2 1/2 weeks here on the ec

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Hey Tom, Rich et al,
What did they do last weekend after the national event -- did everyone have to vacate the pits, or did folks leave their rigs in place for the Dutch? Just wondering if I made the long drive how crappy my pit spot would be... |
Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Scott, some of racers stayed in place , but once the Alcohol cars and ProStock bikes and cars moved a lot of them made a move for the tar.
I took my stuff home since I haven't made my mind up on going to Silver Dollar or to the Grove. Even with the rain we had today ,I think the field will be pretty solid since there has been very little rain in the past month. |
Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Thanks Tom... And congrats btw. You have been on fire!
I did Reynolds a couple of years back with my pal Ricky Adkins... Ricky was running it down to the wire with Mike Coughlin for the TS title... They actually ran in the finals to decide the season.! Nice little track, lots of sand in the pits... Kinda like Atco Good luck Scott |

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Thats not good....,,, I see the nasty front moving North from the Richmond, Newport News area.... . Its absolutely gorgeous in Pittsburgh right now, and there is a stiff 10 MPH easterly wind across the whole state.... Hopefully that easterly wind will carry it out to sea.....

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Gas , tolls and entrance fee's 500 Dollars, getting car ready and checking everything, along with a few new parts. thousands of dollars, what I want to do to the weathermen that first forecasted a perfect weekend, PRICELESS..

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
Definitely sucks for everyone already committed to the event.
Looking at all the weather models, I'd say no way anything hits the track before Saturday and even then, it's going to be marginal. |

It can't be a cheap tow all the way from Mass. Why couldn't they postpone it from the start On tues or wed. Have it for the following weekend It figures when it doesn't rain in 12 days It just has to do it now for 3-4 days |
Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
The forecast certainly is terrible. But looking at the radar in motion, it looks to have broken up quite a bit compared to yesterday... maybe it will continue to do so...

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
The problem is that it's a Nor-Easter so it's just spinning up the coast rather then just coming up and hitting for 1 day. Like the weather man said last night, it's not a big or strong storm it's just a really slow and wet storm. I mean it broke apart but, forecasts still don't look good. 80% today, 70% tomorrow, 50% Sat & 30% Sunday. I'm sure they will do the best they can with the track but, unfortunately I can't see car counts being great. I heard all the asphalt is full and a few straggling trailers in the grass but, not many. I think we are all waiting out a decision or for it to maybe clear

I Totally and completely agree Angelo. This is arguably one of the most anticipated and cherished events of the year. S and SS class, Hemi shootout, the best track in all of div 1, and 3, record runs, factory racing, and no circus cars to interfere with real racing....... Based on the predictions which are all 80%+ for non stop rain until Saturday, they should seriously consider pulling the plug now.... |

They have this posted on the homepage for Reading's weather service area (Philly)... http://governmentshutdown.noaa.gov/Due to the Federal Government shutdown, NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable. However, because the information this site provides is necessary to protect life and property, it will be updated and maintained during the Federal Government shutdown. For more information please go to the following link: Anyways, sorry for the tease, but, that's what it said at the time. I was ready to be watching some record runs on via the net! |

Is this the definition of irony? :)

Re: Weather for the Dutch - looks GREAT!
No, it is just typical Maple Grove weather in October....
If it can rain....it will .... I have been there so many times over the years when it rained like this it is a almost expected.... I stayed home and am real glad I did..... It never rained much at all where I live in northern NJ......100 miles to the north and east.... I have to add I have been there when the weather was perfect and there is hardly a better event when the sun is out.... |
