Live from Maple Grove - "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"

Good morning and for once I'll tell you I'm not live this morning as I'm still home .Waiting out the rain ?? Nope - but I am waiting to be a Grandfather for the first time but my new grandson is not co-operating so to speak .He should have arrived yesterday but said no thanks and is making an entrance when he is good and ready and not before ( guess he hadn't heard about drugs to induce labor ) .Anyway sooner or later he'll pop out and I'll get to the track .

Speaking of the track - today's racing has been officially cancelled - but tech and parking are open all day according to track officials .

Later .........

I just got word from someone inside the track and the race has apparently been rained-out and cancelled! I'd call MG for specific details but I wouldn't just show up.

As most of you know the Pennsylvanis Dutch Classsic has been cancelled .Just too much rain and the forecast is grim .Good news is they didn't make us sit here all weekend till they called it .Even better news is that everyone was given a full cash refund on the way out - now thats how you treat customers ! ! No funny business - no rain checks ....just hard cash.

As you'll see from my pics ( and I had to take pics of something or Kenny would doc me ) its plenty wet here and raining hard at this moment .Funny thing is a lot of racers aren't leaving .Some are sitting around BS's while others are BarB Qing and others are digging themselves out of the mud .Tonight some are going to the car auction near Hershey and some are doing the Shady Maple thing and going home tomorrow . And then there are the outlet shoppers ....we'll just let them be .

Me ? I'll be working tomorrow and maybe spend some time with Nick .

What a wasted time here but you can't control the weather ......

I really dig that silver Sunbird ;)

Congratulations on the new addition, Jack!

Sorry about the race, but Mother Nature is always undefeated as Top Eliminator at times.

Hope to see you all at Hagerstown November 2-3.

Re: Live from Maple Grove - "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic"

No Jack ,they had no choice but to refund the money since they did not think far enough ahead to plan a rain date !
Everyone knows it never rains this time of year in Reading.
All advertisements for the Dutch said raindate TBA , That infers that an alternate date will be announced.
How many racers would come if it said " if it rains too bad were not going to hold the race?
Sorry but both Maple Grove and D1 leaders screwed up this one with poor scheduling and deserve no credit for "generously"refunding our entry.

Tommy - You missed my point - I can't ever remember ( my memory isn't that great anymore but thats another story ) the NHRA or a member track giving us back cash for any reason ...........
