Theathers

Got the prototype cables made, two versions, any length. Big clamps to anchor them. Sending them to NHRA for approval. Now the important thing. How yall gonna ship the beer I want to swap for the things? And just how much beer would you be willing to supply for a set of high quality, Stainless, NHRA approved Cajun Connectors. Quantity discounts available.

I heard we need tethers.

Where will it end?

Re: Theathers

Cajun Connectors are Theathers, and you now have to send more beer.

Do we get a better deal for "canadian" beer?

Jeff Teuton 10-31-2013 10:58 AM

Re: Theathers

Ven, we actually get LaBat Blue down here, but it must be brewed in Cuba or some other third world country or Texas or Arkansas or something. Maybe it's the barometer. Taste like ----.

Re: Theathers

How much "clear beer" (only bubbles when you shake it in the jar) for two sets?

Jeff Teuton 10-31-2013 02:44 PM

Re: Theathers

Iron City Beer. After Katrina we had route trucks from the beer distributors that went under. They gave us the beer. I tried some of that stuff. Really Bad! We were moving some of that stuff on pallets accross the parking lot and a 6 pack fell off. Diesel Fuel looked better. On the cables, I am getting a price and source on aircraft type clamps, then I will have a final price. They don't like radiator type clamps.

Jim I believe it was posed here a few weeks ago that one of the companies was adjusting the retail pricing of theirs, and giving refunds for the difference for people who paid the higher price.

Jim another one of the good guys out there is Keith Fulp of KFMotorsports out of Alphraitta Ga. He is also NHRA certified and reasonably priced. Met him at Reynolds Ga at the points meet and he measured up Don Himes Lemans and is bringing them to Gainesville National open for us.

Jeff I would appreciate being but on the theathers (sic) list please. Do you need to know anything about the application or is it "1 size fits all" type of deal??

You are correct Karen. They reduced their $250 tethers to $200. Still twice the price as advertised above. Jim

Re: Theathers

I knew the price on these things would come down. Andrew priced the pieces out from a specialty hardware retailer and came up with $44, buying everything retail one at a time. NHRA now needs to let us buy our own pieces like we do with any other part that's not a Sfi part.

Jeff Lee 11-06-2013 09:02 PM

Re: Theathers

So the $80 weld on NHRA approved tether has tabs and a stainless steel braided string in between them.
Somebody want to explain to me how that is better than welded on tabs with bolts or springs between the tabs that is no longer NHRA legal? I thought the whole problem was tabs that break!
Obviously it's not about safety.

Jeff Teuton 11-06-2013 10:18 PM

Re: Theathers

It is about safety. These are backups to the tabs breaking, bolts breaking, etc so it don't hit the rear tire and get slingshoted into the crowd, blow the tire and slingshot the car, and stuff like that. It is not supposed to replace the tabs, springs etc. And most of us have seen the things fly off. Easy off, easy on like the freeway. It's not as easy as it is to get the cap off of a beer bottle, or the tab off of a can, but almost. A little thether humor there.

Will all the People who are making the Tethers have some form of liability insurance just in case something happens with their tethers ?? This is something for all to think about to cover your self against a lawsuit FYI

Re: Theathers

So You have a Theaters systems approved by NHRA. What happen when you are on starting line and you get hit by collector??! Who pays???

Hopefully the manufacturer has a liability insurance coverage to protect themselves

Why not NHRA their approval???

Apparently I'm qualified to cut, bend, and weld my own roll cage, but not qualified to assemble a few clamps with pre made lines. Literally exactly the same parts as included in these kits.

I think the problem is even though you build your own cage, They still inspect it to make sure the right pipes, welds, configurations are met before they certify it. With the teathers, in order to be approved, you must have them inspect it, test it, etc before they will approve it. NHRA does not have the time or manpower to inspect every home build system out there, even though the vast majority of them would be fine. Just my 2 cents worth

How long will it be before the NHRA decides that they have to be replaced every two years for "safety" reasons?

It only has to be certified if you're going faster than 10.00

Jeff I thought it was "theathus"?? Remember, you and Sid taught me how to speak Cajun a long time ago. And I can supply beer so special you won't have enough theathus to overcome the addiction. Now I need to buy headers for some cars I can't afford to put them on :D:D:D
