ONE DOWN and one more large one to go, and they MIGHT just get back on track
plus our own Jim Woods is now division 2 director

Re: Ihra has a new president

I would imagine that the NHRA Division 5 Lucas Oil Race is toast if Cordova is returning as an IHRA track?

Edit....

I guess they already got rid of it.Thought I saw it listed before.

West Central Division
May 17-18 SRCA Dragstrip Great Bend, Kan.
May 31-June 1 Brainerd International Raceway Brainerd, Minn.
June 13-15 Bandimere Speedway Denver
Aug. 22-23 Heartland Park Topeka Topeka, Kan.
Sept. 5-7 Tri-State Raceway Earlville, Iowa

I think part of the deal was that the guys that own IHRA bought the Cordova track too.

I'm starting to believe these guys mean business. They definitely seem to have a plan and bring some old glory back to IHRA. Good luck to them.

Re: Ihra has a new president

I never saw this one coming. Having worked with Scott Gardner when I first went to work for IHRA, as much of the Cordova team travelled the whole Bracket Finals circuit with us in the formative years of the Bader era, I can't express well enough how exciting and revitalizing this move could be. Scott, his family, and his team have always been just that -- FAMILY, and that in turn was the root of IHRA. Scott has a passion for the sport from top to bottom, and has a track record of success. Change always takes time, but as long as IHRA's parent company allows him the flexibility to do what needs to be done, I can see a bright future ahead. Welcome home, Scott.

How I wish the IHRA would come back to Milan Dragway. The
Motor City Nats was an awesome event.

Cordova and the related Iowa tracks are also off NHRA's track locator. Went to Cordova Divisional this year. It was my first time there. Thought it was a great track!

Re: Ihra has a new president

At least ONE if not Two more need to go but this is huge. Hoping for good things in IHRA future. I like my racing calendar full so hoping to add back all of Div 9 and some of Div 2 if things work out. I have made many, many, many great NHRA friends who all say they would support IHRA if they had good personnel and paid money so let's hope for smart scheduling and big car counts!!!

Re: Ihra has a new president

Regardless of who the IHRA President is, what changes are made, purses increased, etc....there are only so many races a sportsman racer can attend. Very few NHRA racers cross over, either due to $, time off of work or etc.

Changes can only be made if it makes financial sense, which most racers dont understand or dont care. You really think IHRA didnt want to keep it going like the "Good Old Days", how can they, if the sponsorships dry up and IHRA cannot make money.

I will continue to support IHRA...2014
