You make a good point, and it's one of the finest tracks in the country

Weather was beautiful today! And there were 4 cars "in the barn". Its dark now and I'm making myself some chili and enjoying a Yeungling.

Looks like cooler temps tomorrow.

Well when you have the "Turkey Trot" nationals the weekend before Thanksgiving you better be glad anybody shows up. We were all set to come Thanksgiving weekend. Oh well.

From the looks of the ET's most of the racers don't realize the AHFS doesn't apply at National Opens.
I would have been there but doing a converter modification.

Hey Marc,
1320go.com had info from today's time shots.
I would think that Sundays race would also be covered.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

If you can footbrake (no 2-step, except stick cars), come on up to North Carolina next weekend. $360 gets you into three races: $5K, $20K, $5K Info in the bracket section at http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=49301 We usually have a few Stockers show up to run for the big money.

Marc,
My computer froze on Super stock in the first record round.I missed the run.
I'm watching for the final b/u record run as I write. If the car does not go under by one second,he will not take the record. Have a good one and see you at the Allstar banquet.Just saw 9.87 on 10.90

We have two cars down right now. Not to mention it's a long drive for two guys who can't get a ton of time away. Pretty sure Scot has parked his car for the year, too.

Good luck Chad.

Re: Gainsville Turkey Trot's ??????

Some one on the ladder got a bye run because of the "Good ole "F"ing Schubeck lifter" which will never be in any of my motors again. I had intended to run No-Box as well as Stock, but on the last time run at the top of second gear the p.o.s. decided to come apart.
That was going to be the last race for that engine and now for sure it is.

Sorry to hear that Casey, I was wondering what had happened. There were a lot of no shows first round, some expected (tear downs) some not. I was very disappointed with the turnout.

Congrats to Jeff Adkinson for the win and Don Himes on his runnerup in the combo Might have been a low car count but it was still good racing. Also a big thanks to Keith Fulp for his hands on with the tether situation

Re: Gainsville Turkey Trot's ??????

It was a good race. The track personnel did a great job with the starting line. Traction was good all weekend. There were at least 5 cars that were there for records and did not participate in the Sunday race. I was surprised that there weren't more of our Southern Stock Super Stock regulars there.
I think the main problem was the small purse for a combo eliminator race. No one is going to travel very far for a $1000 to win pay out. I got down to 4 cars and only got $50. Pretty sorry.
Congrats to Jeff on another fine win.
John Duzsak and Brian Oaks put on a good show with the wheels up launches

No problem Chad. I figured you weren't real happy with that run. Its all for fun though. I do enjoy running with the stockers in the combos. Best of luck next year!!

I wasn't aware they paid that little.
Chad, how much did your car pick up in that air? I have never gone down the track in that kind of air.

Mike Pearson 11-26-2013 09:03 AM

Re: Gainsville Turkey Trot's ??????

Ed

On Saturday I went 10.22 and 10.25 on my 2 time runs. Sunday the air was much better and with out changing anything on my car I went 10.14 on the brakes against Jeff Atkinson in the semi's. There was also a pretty good head wind that I figured at .03 so it was probably .10 to .12 quicker. Had the wind been at our back it would have been mine shaft.

It picked up 11, but I made some changes. There was also a pretty stiff head wind. I picked up .103 to the 660 and .007 on the back half.

That's 61% payback. An NHRA Div. 2 LODRS with 45 cars pays back 36% of entry fees.

Re: Gainsville Turkey Trot's ??????

I'm pretty sure they spent well over $1,000 on track prep and staffing for tech and teardown alone, focused almost solely for the benefit of Stock and Super Stock racers. The record runs were entertaining and great to watch. But...there's always something to complain about.
