WA Lee 1969 Chevelle Wagon

Hey guys im new to classracer and I just recently bought a 1969 Chevelle Wagon that is believed to be owned at one time by WA Lee. I bought it off of Tom Samsel and was wondering if anyone has any more information on this car or knows someone who does?

Thanks.

Willy won the Division one championship with the wagon in 1979.
We were number 2 (we tried harder LOL)

The car is the newest addition to Box Motorsports and is partnered by Doug, Maddy, and Mike.

what you need for transport is a 1963 409 wagon and a duel axle open trailer just like lee used.

I remember the upside down lettering very well. It might a 'sore' subject for at least one racer! Ha ha.

I ran against that wagon several times. I have a nice photo of he and I at squaring off at Connecticut Dragway.

Re: WA Lee 1969 Chevelle Wagon

Hey guys thanks for the pictures but im a little confused, I thought that wine wagon in the picture was a tribute car to WA Lee? This isnt the one that we bought and ours has a class finalist decal from 1977 I believe. Can anyone clear this up? I found an older post where there was some discussion on this as well. "Chevellewagon"'s avatar pic is the car we bought.

Here is the older post I was talking about.

Re: WA Lee 1969 Chevelle Wagon

The Wine Wagon is NOT W.A. Lee's old car. Phil's wagon is the correct one. Mike himself (Wine Wagon owner) and Phil will tell you.

I'm not sure if I have this right, but didn't Jim Boudreau own it, and called it Gold Digger, then I know for sure Gene Monahan raced it for many years, then it was bought by Phil.
Best of luck with it,
George

Your right George, Jim did own w.a. lee's car. He drove locally in stock and also had his super stocker. His son Tim and I also drove it.Can't remember who he sold it to.Was a fun car to drive.

I've had a lot of race cars in my day, and even drove a few that I didn't own,Chevelles, 409's, but one of the most fun cars in the stable is my '68 Chevelle O/SA station wagon.Tony Janes and I have driven it a lot since I built the car in 1996 or so, and it has won more rounds and a few races more than anything else we've had. I hope you have as much fun with yours as we've had with ours.

OK, check out this YouTube video of the 78 Sportsnational, WA Lee was in the semis against Blakenship (another big ole Chevy-427-425HP)

The Wine wagon is Wojo's old car, not Lee's. Wojo won the Molson Grandnational with that car.The red stripes on Wojo and Lee's car were painted on to look like Jenkin's car. Wojo told me that this past 4th of July. Lee also flat towed his car. My dad told me he once flat towed it to Pomona. Its great to see both Chevelle wagons
back out. Al jr.

Pretty cool, I met W.A.Lee when I was racing at Lebanon Valley Dragway back in the late 70's. I think he was running 7" wide slicks on that wagon ! The Woods were there too with the Pontiac Lemans wagon. Neat !!

I went to Canada with dad in 85 to pick the car up from camile. are you selling the 283?

Re: WA Lee 1969 Chevelle Wagon

Not planning on selling . The motor was not in his car just in the garage. I will check with the guy I got it from as he is the one who dealt directly. I did get a bunch of stuff from him at the same time I'll see what I have. I have a 65 wagon and a 2 door good luck with your project. ---Trevor
