LIVE! from the PRI Show

1 Attachment(s)
With most of the race cars put away and no more big races to report from, the PRI Show is the next best thing right now. And with the exception of the racing and the qualifying sheets, it has all of the personalities, eating, drinking and hyperbole that's at the track. I have the Ford Racing Team Cobra Jet Transit loaded up and ready to make the tow, I mean drive, to Indy. I'll post some photos later this afternoon of the show set up.

And for those of us who enjoyed the warm and sunny days that the PRI Show spent Orlando, it will be 85 there today and 27 in Indy. Not good.

Those that are at PRI, stop by the Ford Racing booth #1925 Thursday at 11am to see the new 2015 Mustang and Richard Petty. The new Mustang will be on display for the rest of the show...

As you can see, there is plenty to get done in the next 36 hours. For some, it's gonna be an all-nighter. Sounds like the rigging crews are running quite a bit behind. Weather - cold here - is a common topic of conversation with just about everybody. The floorplan here with two halls and jumbled rows will make it a challenge to see the show in an orderly fashion.

Grab a map on the way in.

More pictures tomorrow.

Good Morning Everyone! It's clear and 6 degrees F outside, with a windchill of MINUS 3 at 0545! It's supposed to warm up (?) to a balmy 22 degrees by this afternoon. So much for the weather!

Full day of seminars and new product introductions ahead. Looks like it's going to take a full two-days plus to get it all in! I hope everyone has a safe and productive day!

.....so when are they coming back to Orlando!:p

Yes, I know that this is the first year or a multi-year contract in Indy.
Damn, I miss having it in Florida!:(

Indy IS the race capital but man is it cold this week. How about having it in the middle of the Summer instead?or at least Thanksgiving week at latest.

It wasn't that cold at the IMIS show here last year. It's just a cold year. Yeah, it's cold out. It's hot inside the convention center. You don't spend much time outside. This show is HUGE, probably double the size of IMIS. Its obviously good for the manufacturers.

Myron,

We dropped our booth after the first ones in Florida, all our customers would drive to Indy, FL was more of a family vacation destination for a few fly ins. We went to IMIS and continue with this PRI show.

Indy is a great location, maybe a little earlier to miss the snow and ice on 65 and other roads, it would be standing room only.

A few more pictures from the show today - the engine was in the Lingenfelter Camaro.

Great crowd today as the aisles were always filled with folks making their way around two HUGE rooms filled with everything from decals and crew uniforms to a multi-angle CNC machine carving a cylinder head out of a chunk of billet aluminum. A lot of new products on display as well, something for just about everyone!

And I got a chance to meet and talk with the "Camfather" himself, Ed Iskenderian at Jon Kasse's booth! He's still sharp as a tack!

Back again tomorrow to visit the booths I didn't get to in the first two days, and then the 12 hour ride home. This sure is fun!!

Great to hear Ed Iskenderian is still active. Know there are a number of great looking race cars (Benza's Pro Stock comes to mind) but the Driller Challenger is the most beautiful race car I've ever seen.

The driller is such a great car you'd think it was a show car instead of a drag car. The car is top notch for sure!

Re: LIVE! from the PRI Show

While many complain about PRI moving back to Indy, and the weather was a little cold for some, moving the show back to Indy was the right thing to do. Indy is a far better location for the PRI trade show than Orlando. Indy is far more central than Orlando, and allows the show to be focused on racing business, which is what the show is all about. It isn't the best possible vacation destination, but the PRI trade show is not about a vacation, it is about racing business. I can tell you that far more business was done at Indy than would have been done at Orlando.

There are two real problems right now, the biggest being that the show is a little broken up, in more than 1-2 rooms. The other being that for now it seems to be stuck on a date that is 1-2 weeks later in the year than it should be. It will be December 11, 12, and 13 next year, when it should be December 4, 5, and 6 at the latest. The date, however, must accomodate both the Colts football team, and the other events already scheduled before the PRI trade show moved back. I think the show may be even bigger and better next year.

Scott Brown at Hachinski Race Paint did the artwork. The Sept 20 ND showcased the car as it's Featured Flyer....I recall there was a bit of an uproar that it didn't win Best Appearing at the US Nats.

Move it to New Orleans!!! We have the room, and what a party!!!!
Almost guaranteed not to have snow or ice! :D

Re: LIVE! from the PRI Show

Alan, I agree. The outside temp doesnt affect the business conducted. It is in a heated building. Less chance to be distracted by the kids to Disney etc. Less likely the family will come and need entertained, however the earlier dates would make it less hateful outside.
Missed it, Had to work.....Next year.

Driller debut was at a nat.event and a dragster won best eng., remember that people, what a joke, that car should have doubled up that day, best engineered. and appearing if that is possible.
