Gas Monkey Garage COPO Camaro
 

Most of you probably saw the episode on Fast and Loud where Richard from GMG built his very own COPO Camaro. Well Richard must have really enjoyed the car because supposedly he purchased 13 of these and has been selling them to the public. Gas Monkey Garage just posted on their Facebook page they had 3 COPO's left in stock and they just marked down the price!! If you know anyone interested here is a link to the build list of 2013 COPO's. You can see that Car numbers 15,16, and 18 are available. Now marked down to $75,000 and were originally priced at $85,000. Guess the are getting ready for the 2014 inventory.;)

For a little fun I went and trolled Gas Monkey's Facebook page with a friendly challenge to have a match race with one of our customer's '13 Cobra Jet. They didn't get back to me yet :D

At that price you might as well get one.
Because it is going to cost just as much building a similarly classed car from scratch.

Thats a good deal, considering your going to invest $30+K in the drivetrain that makes the car in total about the going rate of a Cobra Jet or Drag Pak.

Those are cool ,but not real copos, they are rolling chassis (crc) that gm sells for 55,000.
You can tell by the hood and wheels that they are different.

Kind of like the plan to outdate every year so you have to buy new to be competitive.

I understand that the "Monkey Garage" COPO Camaro has been sold to a guy in Florida...and will be on display at a car show in Naples area, at Tin City, Jan.11,2014 ...STEVE

They are taking one of the CRC cars to Barrett Jackson with a 454 in it this month.

We'll be able to watch Richard pull his hair and stress out at the auction when this doesnt bring what he has in it...not that I like anyone to lose out, but it will be live.

That's a real shot in the dark putting that car in the Barret-Jackson auction. A no reserve auction can go both ways. Many times some cars never make it to the stage ( a good thing ) . OR PRAY that you get 3 or 4 people who are bidding with their egos and the auctioneer works them hard. I believe the TV program exposure will help carry the car. Crazy things happen at that auction.

I watched the sale and they said this car left the Copo assy. plant with the GM decals and the 427 installed.. Also talked about it running in NHRA Stock eliminator.... If its not a real COPO I would be surprised. BJ seems to be on top of those things... IMHO....

It had a 454 in it. Bracket car from a body in white.

Body in white correct... BJ listing #5003. Gas Monkey COPO 427... Look at the Saturday listing docket... Still don't believe BJ mislabeled the engine... They talked about it before selling it and also said it there....

Not likely, even if it was the 450 they could not race it without making the car a 2014.

That would be a big NOPE!!

I think that the confusion came from the Gas monkey guys. At one point the description on their web site said both 427 and 454. They have since fixed it.

I did some further investigation this morning... On the docket listing of all the cars by day stated a 427... If you clicked on the individual car a complete listing was there... In this listing it said 454.... But I'm sure on the stage asthe car was there they said 427... But, this is still confusing....

One of the last cars sold on the broadcast was a real COPO and it brought $132,000 before fees....So there is the real price ....... IMHO.....
