Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Read on another forum tonight a report that Dallas Raceway has sold and is going to be a large truck salvage yard. Can anyone confirm this? IHRA's web site is still showing their Pro Am in March and the track's web site is still up.

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Blane Arrington Sadly it is true Tim Jordan the owner of Tim Jordan's Truck Parts in Crandall has bought the track and is going to turn it in to his new wrecking yard RIP Dallas Raceway.
From there facebook page That f*&^$%^ sucks! |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Condolences to the racers.

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Boy, that is a shame. I have to say that was one of the nicest facilities that I've ever visited. We were just there for the Thanksgiving bracket race. Pits are 100% concrete for the racers. Sad to see it go; that was the closest track to us.

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
You have to be kidding me! I just went on the track website and looked at some photos. The place looks like a real race track, not some little dump. That so totally sucks!

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
I didn't see anything on their facebook page but I messaged them to ask if the rumors are true. We'll see what they say.

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Someone who knows frank kotoheck oughta give him a call directly. Shouldn't he know? I was planning to make the race at the end of next month

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
It was a very nice little track. Not sure it was big enough to hold an NHRA points race. It was fine, pretty full, for IHRA points races. It was very nice. Shame to see it go.

Feel bad for you. What options do you all have now? d |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
It is really a shame to see such a nice facility go down. Racers would get upset when tracks not half as nice as this one would get shut down. This was always one of my favorite stops on the IHRA Pro am series.

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
I have a credit from the race there last year. Bummer

If someone will post frank kotohecks number I will call him myself. The ihra div director would probably know the answer. Could be a bad rumor

Thanks fletch. Gonna see if I can get us an answer today

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
I sent Frank an email. Hope to hear from him soon.
Hope this is not true, but there has been so much drama around the track, I am not holding my breath. This facility is one of the nicest tracks in the IHRA or any system... While the weather and scheduling conflicts have hurt attendance at IHRA races the last couple of years, I think that about anyone that has ever raced there would agree that it is a top notch track. Fletch, pictures dont do it justice. Smooth, hooked and clean. Glood layout, restrooms, etc. All top notch. Easy highway access. Just a great track. While not big enough for a Nat. event, it did well with Div. races. I was looking forward to the Fab Five race at the end of Feb. too. Maybe they can keep that somewhere close, even if not at Crandall... With Denton now IHRA, might be an option? Not sure if big enough for what they were planning for car counts or not? Will let everyone know what I hear. Ken |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Somebody there close could just dial up the truck salvage that supposedly bought it, and ask. Right?
No waiting for an email response. |

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Also was told that if the race couldn't happen at Crandall it would still go on at Denton or abilene

Are those other two tracks 1/8 th mile? |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
With all the money that the new owners of IHRA have, I wish they would just buy the track and put all the on going BS to rest... but guess that is not an option or it would have already happened?

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
I'll agree it's a nice facility, (with a few problems in layout), but face facts. The track has lost an HORRIFIC amount of money since the day it opened and the place was in turmoil since before THAT!

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Sent Ken Hall (track manager) a text earlier today asking him the status of the sale and whether or not they would be open this year. He's usually pretty good about responding to texts (had a question or two recently that he got right back to me on) but he hasn't answered me yet. I thought they were supposed to know by today either way.

I was told that there is still nothing solid to report as of today, meeting was postponed again. Ken's phone has been blowing up for weeks and as soon as he gets a definite answer, I am sure he will post it on their website and facebook page. I also heard today that there was a surveying company out at the facility Saturday, to me that doesn't sound like good news for the drag strip.:(:(:(:(:( |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Is Texas getting too small and running out of space for everybody now ???
Big state, put ya damn yard somewhere else ~! |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Bernie they had a pit spot saved for you, right next to the "Dunny", but you never showed up to claim it!

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Their homepage this morning is saying that they'll have test-and-tune this Saturday January 18th. Supposed to a nice weekend here. If it is sold, or on the verge of, they're going down swinging leaving it open until the very last minute.
Scott |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
They will run test and tune as long as they have the green light to open the gates.
The question isn't if it has sold, we know the money is already put up, the question now is will Ken and Molly be able to lease it for the 2014 season from the new owner or not. |
Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
This track is less than 5 or 6 years old,it has concrete up the wazoo, track, pits, maybee the washrooms,i remember the construction pics as it was being built, its sad to see a newer facility close[if sold] ...

Re: Dallas Raceway sold ... here we go again
Wonder how we can gin up support and passion to keep this Track open?
