SRCA news??
Anybody here anything on the latest SRCA meeting?? Rumor has it Bruce got upset when he found out that builders are using a big bore block and sleeve them down to a small bore. This has been going on forever were has he been, guess we will have to see what happens now. Now wait till he finds out there putting big cam cores in some engines. Tom

That is news to anyone? People have been making a 396 out of a 454, or a 305 or 283 out of a 350 or 307 for a long time. |

Sorry......

Re: SRCA news??
Okay, with #15 it seems they're only addressing the COPO LSx series engines, and not the older stuff.
From the information in the above post, the racer was apparently wanting to use the cast iron 6.0L truck block in the race engine. The precedent is the use of a cast iron block as an acceptable replacement for the 1969 ZL-1 aluminum block. The rules are rather convoluted, there are several blocks allowed in stock that are not even manufactured by the OE manufacturers. It's going to be hard to tell the guys running a COPO that they're the only ones NOT allowed to replace their block when a better OE part is available, even if it requires sleeves. |
Re: SRCA news??
I've been going across the scales after heads up runs for no reason?

Re: SRCA news??
I read what was posted before it was edited.
Why is the information secret? Seems like several issues pertained to Class Racing, and this is CLASSRACER.com What is the problem? |

Re: SRCA news??
I agree that this would be a great place to post the information. However, when they make a specific request to not do so, it should be honored until a change in that policy is made. The first step would be talking to your SRAC rep and finding out the whys and wherefores, and then asking for a new policy of transparency.
Sad state of affairs, but honestly, I don't even know who my SRAC rep is now that I'm in the wintry north. The only info I ever get is from my Div. 2 rep, who does a phenomenal job. On a mostly unrelated note, I've had the opportunity to attend a number of track operators meetings over the years, and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that has been discussed and suggested in those meetings. http://smileyjungle.com/smilies/angry25.gif |
Re: SRCA news??
Your rep is Jeff Taylor. The SRAC reps are listed on the NHRA Racer site

Re: SRCA news??
There's going to be a Discovery Channel special about the SRAC in March. A hidden camera will show what they do in secret, including the ritual sacrifice of live animals.

Re: SRCA news??
The reason Mike asked for it to not be posted is because it brings out the non class racers to start stirring the pot. He does a great job keeping class racers informed through email and all he ask's in return is to not post it on social sites.

Re: SRCA news??
This is the only place we hear about the meeting and what is talked about other wise we are in the dark. Am I the only one that just hears about it on here?

IMHO, let's respect the wishes of our hard working SRAC representatives. They are giving up their time and energy and probably feel like they are pushing a rope sometimes (dealing with any bureaucracy is like that, at least everyone I've encountered). |
Re: SRCA news??
Maybe someone could post up the names of all of the SCRA reps and their contact information? The LSX block subject is of obvious interest to me.
|
Re: SRCA news??
Could someone PM me the LSx block info? Since I have one of these I would like to know more about it.

Re: SRCA news??
I must apologize to my fellow Div 4 racers for the lack of information about the SRAC. I emailed the notes from the meeting to Div 4 office, and they should be available to Div 4 Stock and Super Stock racers. I had a couple of issues, but I am back now in full swing. My beer box broke, and I was not sure I could survive the trauma. I am working on an email list by request so this doesn't happen again. Anyone needs any info, email me jefft@southlanddodge.com or 985-804-6161. Thanks. Jeff Teuton Div 4 4022
