You can tell from the puddles on the ground that a drag race is coming to town.

Think the puddles must be drain water from all the air conditioners keeping the big coaches and stackers cool....LOL. With the historic drought though it's not that improbable that rain will be in the forecast.

Re: Almost live from 2014 Winternationals

The weather forecast that I am looking at shows very good weather all weekend. Low to mid 60's every day except Sunday when it should be in the low 70's. I also shows no wet stuff all weekend. I know every weather report is different, but what do others say??? I hope the weather holds and this race turns into a great one. With weather like this (if it holds) the cars should be running very well and fast.

Weather channel now predicting 70% chance of rain tomorrow so sure enough if you want to break a drought just schedule a drag race....hopefully any showers will be late in the day and sportsman racers will get at least two hits.

Well go figure. If you need rain, schedule a race. I remember many times going to a race and being rained out. In fact, S.I.R. stood for "sorry it's raining". The track has been renamed to Pacific Raceways (original name) and the older local racers still predict rain by having an event scheduled. HA HA. I hope the rain is light and well into the evening so that the sportsman guys can get the day in efficiently. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

I could identify two of the cars. The Mustang is Charlie Allen from Los Angeles, so he's fairly local. The red Mopar is Gregg Luneack from Vista, which is is 87 miles. They ought to award a trophy to the longest distance traveled with an open trailer.

Cal Method in H? Wonder if he's exhausted the supply of big blocks on the west coast. Love Elliott's Dodge, thanks for the pics!

Re: Almost live from 2014 Winternationals

Yes, it is good to see that some racers still use open trailers. I totally understand the need for enclosed or stacker trailers for security, but open trailers are cool. They let the people on the highway see what you are towing, instead of just seeing a big box behind a truck/motorhome. What is the current weather and racing conditions down there??? Are things going to progress for the sportsman racers??

Thanks for the update. I am not an NHRA member (long story), so I have to rely on DRC for updates or classracer for info.

Watch what you say....If it was D1, you would have snow banks taller than the tower.

Friday night Pomona Valley Harley Davidson is having free food and a live band. It is just down the road from the track. Take Central north off the 10 fwy. It is from 5 to 8 even if it is raining.

The air was not good, barometer around 28.90. Overcast most of the day until the rain came and dropped the cloud to 1500 feet or so.

The second round of Stock could be very inetersting. There is potential for a couple of A/SA heads up races. Good luck and safe racing to all participants.
