Is there a VP to Sunoco equivalency reference chart anywhere and typical tune changes between fuels?

C-10 is unleaded. (Now C-9 also unleaded)

Is there a leaded fuel with a lower octane (100 or less) out there that is NHRA Approved?

What you want to pay attention to is the SG and RVP of the different fuels. Similar specs on both will usually need similar jetting and perform close. If either deviate you will likely need to make changes. As far as lower octane than 100, what are you looking to lower octane for?

I have a 9:25.1 Compression Ratio Motor. It would run much more efficiently on a lower octane fuel than 110.

The best way to get the specs for race fuel comparisons is from each manufacturers web site. The specs change fairly often. The above referenced chart is out of date I believe. You'll want to pay close attention to the Motor Octane, and the RVP number.
Most companies also have a crossover on their web sites to make it easier to switch between brands.
And race gas for lower compression engines is available from a number of sources. Sunoco, Renegade, VP all make race gas for lower CR engines.

Thanks, for the info ... What low CR gas is approved for NHRA /IHRA & what would you recommend for an 8 to 1 ???

There haven't been very many race fuels submitted for NHRA approval by any of the manufacturers. Renegade makes several, but they aren't on the approved list as they weren't submitted..
For 8:1 you might want to stay with 93 octane street gas, Shell or Chevron.

VP 110 Motor Octane 107 Specific gravity .720 to .730
Renegade 110 Motor Octane 108 Specific gravity .718

Sunoco 112 Motor Octane 109 Specific gravity .715
VP C-12 Motor Octane 108 Specific gravity .717
Renegade 112 Motor Octane 109 Specific gravity .718

VP C-16 Motor Octane 117 Specific gravity .735
Renegade 120 Motor Octane 120 Specific gravity .710

NHRA won't let you use pump 93 octane.

To tune for a different brand of race gas here are some basic rules of thumb,
A change in Specific Gravity of 0.010 requires a change of 1 jet size. That's for leaded racing gasoline. Switching to or from an oxygenated race gas typically requires a change of 3 or 4 jet sizes.

No, they don't. Way too many variables among manufacturers for consistent tech. Most racers use a quality 110, but a number of championships have been won with very high octane leaded race gas. The burn rate seems to work very well in some lower CR engine combinations.

As for NHRA approved leaded fuels, C-11 comes in @ 104, & something called "sportsman" comes in @ 107. I copied this from their website for the 11 ...... Recommended for CRs up to 12:1 with restrictor plates and standard flow heads. Anticipate significant HP and torque increases. Used in NHRA Stock and Super Stock.

Mike,

Any chance you or some other company could get a 93-95 octane approved for NHRA/IHRA ??? There 's plenty of cars that would use it, we are now wasting money on gas that doesn't work with our combo's ??? Just a thought?
We don't need all that octane & it actually hurts our combo's ? Thanks..

Yes, there's a very good chance. But the approval process only happens once per season so we'll shoot for next year. Meanwhile, if you aren't running a national series, check the web sites for race fuel that is a better fit for your combination. Renegade lists several for low compression race engines.

Is the reference chart referring to the Evan Knoll Torco Fuel or the Arizona Torco Fuel?
I have been told that Renegade is the old Evan Knoll Torco blend and specs.

The Evan Knoll Torco hasn't existed for about 5 years and they didn't make very many different blends..
Renegade has it's own design engineers and makes a large number of race fuels including one of the winningest Moto Cross fuels in the AMA,
