How about Tom Rix. Didn't he have a quick one?

Toms car was an Apollo with a 455 in the short lived Top Stock category in Division 3. WHile really fast, not an NHRA legal combo from an availabilitystandpoint as a factory car and the top stock rules allowed quite a number of parts NHRA does not allow. As an aside, Tom currently owns the Dave Benisek/Doug Jones "Factory"GS stage 1 racecar as well. I think the Jason Line car was the fastest full weight 455 GS I ever remember seeing-what a car!

Jason Line ran in the 10.30's in C/SA a few year back. That's the quickest Buick I've seen. I'd be curious to know what's the quickest pass by a real small block Buick. I know Chris Stephenson has been in the 11.40's.

The car that Alf Weibe/Jason Line drove is a very fast car. Low 10's by that heavy a car is impressive. My pick for fastest real Buick.

I remember the Dave Benisek Buick that killed in class back then.

Tom had several Buicks at the same time. He did run the Appollo in NHRA and IHRA Top Stock if I remember correctly. That car was sold several years ago.

He has sold the Jones and Benisek Stage II car a few years ago.

He still has the Silver Stage I Car that he won Top Stock at Norwalk Ohio. I think that car is for sale. It has been very fast.

He has restored a Triple Black 455 GS with a four speed for the street.
He is currently restoring a 66 Nova with a 327 4 Speed combination.

Dave Benisek and his group are still doing their thing with a Buick Apollo at the annual Buick thing in Bowling Green. They pretty consistently win their class.

Thanks for the update, Robin! I have a large wheels up picture of that J&B car hanging on my living room wall, shot at Norwalk at the Buick raceday in May of 04. I was not aware Tom sold it, although I knew the Apollo had been sold. He certainly had the cream of the Buick racing crop for awhile there.......

Re: quickest "real" buick stock

There are a lot of fast Buick stockers with Jason probably leading the pack in C. As for fastest Buicks in F, its gotta be between Lenny Williams and John Osborne.

Nothing like a Buick stocker! Fast with class , and Tom Rix's stuff is always perfection at its best.
