Re: Chandler, AZ race
thanks Mike.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
The last Q run in stock had a 25 mph head wind, so I doubt anyone picked up......rains hit around 3 thirty...

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Final qual and ladders are on DRC.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Does anyone know if there is any live streaming video like there was last year? I can think of nothing better than listening to Alan while sitting in northeast Ohio taking it on the chin again from old man winter. Thanks in advance for any reply.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Did it dry out enough to race today?

No round 2 yet?

Re: Chandler, AZ race
We`ve all been spoiled for the past decade and a half with the near instant coverage!

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Same reason we do not have instant results on DRC. The money
|
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Guess Div 7 has less money than other divisions, and many small bracket tracks.
|
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Good ol' Robert Cruzen is on to the SS final at Pheonix!
|
Re: Chandler, AZ race
From the looks of the ladder I'm betting he had to win a heads up along the way too.
Just speculating. |

Re: Chandler, AZ race
I left before the semi's, and just got home.....so do you mean to tell me that Peter Biondo beat Robert Cruzen in the SS final?????? those Pontiac engines need more HP......(just kidding of course.....aren't they both 428"s)
I want to see the pairings of DRC.......from the starting line, it looked like some "crazy" close races.... |
Re: Chandler, AZ race
It seems that we are a little slow on results now.....here is what I know.....from before I left...in SS....Biondo, Norm LaPointe, Eric Bell, (Darrin Smith Broke), Cruzin, Harry Doolittle, Mark Faul...Leo Glassbrenner....maybe others
Stock....Paula, Tibor, CC/SA TBolt, DeFrank, Mark Faul....others |
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Where did they post the round 1 results? I see drag race central has nothing up. Just curious to see how Abe Lowen did in round 1.
|
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Fast News does not have the funding to have reporters at LODRS races this year. So the division director or track personnel has to pull the data package from the race computer at end of day and email it to DRC then they have to process it and then post it.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Ok Thank you Jeff.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
I know Abe won first round, Grump

Re: Chandler, AZ race
For those who didn't follow the thread about DRC sponsorship by Summit I've enclosed it here. In it Larry Sullivan gave a synopsis of how end of day reports are sent to them for posting since they are no longer funded to attend the NHRA Divisionals. I'll let you draw your own conclusions but personally I like their concise reports and think Summit should spread some of their marketing/sponsorship money back to DRC.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
I have to say, all in all the new track management did a great job with their first Divisional.
The track was in great shape from what I could tell, and from what I heard. Even with the Saturday overnight downpour, once we got going Sunday, Mike Rice and company did an excellent job completing the event before it got too late. Yes, that was praise for NHRA , this time. A few people asked if we were having a S/SS combo at our March 22nd event (see flyer down below in the events section). Yes , we'll run a combo no matter how few cars may be involved. I just didn't put it on the flyer because of the Vegas Divisional going on that same weekend...I had to take the 22nd date...It was the only one available to me. |
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Yac, really!!
Your trying to make diamonds from coal. We started just a couple of hours late because of no drying equipment and run second round at 6.00 PM! How does that happen???? |

No jet dryer yet..but it's not supposed to rain in Arizona. At least now they know they need one.. Alcohol has to go off at a certain time..and god knows what else.. Otherwise they'll lose all 10 of their spectators for next year..You know that. It's just not an hour for hour trade off..Start /finish So, they fumbled through..better? Good ya see ya, mate |
Re: Chandler, AZ race
Generally speaking, something was going down the track , most of the time.....except for the vette that hit the wall....They got it all in and had rain on Saturday. Obviously, it would have been better to get a couple of rounds in Saturday, but the rain hit.

Re: Chandler, AZ race
It was great (for a change) to be a Stock Eliminator racer at this event, with the 3 qual's on Friday, and the two on Sat. However, I agree with Bernie that wasn't cool having to wait 7hrs from round 1 to round 2 on Sunday....but it was still nice to be out there playing in the game.... :)

Re: Chandler, AZ race
"No jet dryer yet..but it's not supposed to rain in Arizona.
At least now they know they need one.." HUH YAC Yac, I'll have to disagree again. Seems to me that the desert air will dry wet pavement by itself, even after a thunder storm. The facility is fundamentally flawed because it wasn't designed around a drainage plan, I can understand that too, no worries. What they need is one of those big suction trucks that my city uses to go around and suck out the debris and water from the storm drain sumps. That would take care of the standing water puddles which, in reality, delayed the start to Sundays activities. The desert will take care of the rest. Driving street cars up and down was pointless. Gary H, you're spot on, Div 7 never gives 5 Q's. WTF! As I said to me friends, I would have lost the farm betting that we could have even run on Saturday. The Nostalgia car doing T&T was sweet too ! Should have used the 'LUCK' with the weather to at least run a round instead of another Q hit. Does our DD even think about this, or even watch the weather, he's a professional after all, been doing it for a while now. Ya gotta think out of the box occasionally, or not even care, but he is the man in charge and calls the shots! Dang Gamit, we have 48 car fields for the TOP D's and S's now. Ya just can't get 'em all down the track in a one day Eliminator, OK ! Can't wait for this years Vegas Fall Div. race !! This is, by far, the slowest Div. to send 'em down the track efficiently. Just say'in !! OK, I'm sorry for the rant, didn't mean to, but I feel better now, it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me still. DONE !! |
Re: Chandler, AZ race
I went to a Div 7 LODRS at Vegas while at the SEMA Show a couple of years ago. They had some extra classes I had never seen at a div points race before. Some nostalgia stuff iirc. Took up some time, and it just seemed to take them a long time to run anything anyway. I left there thinking "these guys are sure laid back." LOL

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Gary just reminded me..They were supposed to run a round of Top Sirloin or whatever Saturday evening ..which they weren't able to do...So throw that into the mix for Sunday too...

Re: Chandler, AZ race
Just curious if anyone video recorded the race for you tube?

Re: Chandler, AZ race
For what the Track and NHRA had to endure (weather) I thought they did a good job. 6 rounds from 3:30 till 9:30 and the track was very consistent for us. The buzz around the pits was the 5Q runs for some with weather pending..

Barry, it was great that they were able to get the remainder of the race completed from 3:30 - 9:30, but how in the hell did it take 7 hours (10:30 - 5:30)to get 2 rounds of Stk/SS in? I'm sure it didn't feel near as painful for other categories that were getting 2nd & 3rd rounds in between. |

Re: Chandler, AZ race
As I recall, Super Comp and Super Gas were to have first round on Saturday, but couldn't because of rain. (maybe Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, also) Regarding standing water, they had a truck sucking up the water from the standing lake behind the grand stands, on the way to the staging lanes.....
It is what it is.....obviously, everyone would like to run, cool down, and run again.....that isn't happening. From my perspective, they were running as quickly as possible with very few oil downs...(less the vette crash)... All in all, for a scheduled 3 day event to get pushed into 2 days, and run until 10 PM on Sunday.....I am OK with that....others may disagree. For what it is worth, I thought 4-5 Q runs was excessive....3 is good. |
