Pure Stockers at Class Nationals

A/PS dodge Belvedier, A/PS Cuda's, A/PS Vette, B/PS Challenger, 2 - D/PS Cameros, D/PS Buick, E/PS Malibu, my car, I/PS Mustang. Hope more come. Only 10 made it.

Talked to one of the guys from PureStockDrags.com. Had they known about this race.
They could have brought 20 cars.

Had conversations with other racers are promoting Pure Stock.

Over all we got a good thing going!

Can you let us know how they qualified Dan? I saw one or two of them on the qualifying sheet in this thread but they only listed the top 40. Also been watching the live feed Friday and Saturday. Saw you run a couple times! Once the announcer said you have a "nice running little car." Little must mean something different in Ohio than here in Texas. LOL

the plum crazy purple Challenger was the most impressive car of the event to me 11.74 et on biased ply reproduction Good year poly glass street tires all corked up through what appeared to be stock exhaust. :- )

Why did most of the pure stockers leave before eliminations Sunday?

Wow back from a long drive getting ready for bed.
Driving back home the Sun was at my back.
Appalachia vistas were beautiful.

Qualifying..I was way down on the list.
A U/SA mid 70's Seville ran more than 2 seconds under.
Most were one second under.
I was a half second and qualified in the 90s of some 120 cars.

Went 2 rounds Friday, 4 Saturday and 2 Sunday.
One more tap on the brakes would have made another lap.

10 Pure Stockers showed up. Think 5 ran Sunday that I could see.
The weather was always one cloud away from raining us out.
Lynn Smith was sent home.

Got a great reception and had lots of people coming up to talk.
My Velocity Stack was a fun topic and a lot of people took pictures of my car.
I got pictures of all the Pure Stockers. Will post tomorrow.
In fact got all of us lined up on Friday qualifying.
It was an impressive line up.

The Pure Stock Challenge was a hit.
Think there is going to be a surge of new Pure Stockers coming soon.

It was a lot of work changing tires back and forth.
The Wind tore and broke my Coleman Canopy.
Was hoping to rebuild it but Colemen does not sell parts.
Just collapsed it and trashed it.

Gary Burr bought you a Class Nationals T-Shirt, got one too.
All they had left were Large.

Hope to get more collaboration and email list of all the PS owners.
Maybe promote our own race.

Need to hear ideas from anyone how to promote our band of Pirate Racing.
Harrrr haarrrr.

Least but not last.
A big thanks to Mike Beard for leading this event.
Want to also thank Jim Woods and tech crew.
Everyone who worked the event put one the best drag racing meet I have ever attended.

Good job going rounds Dan! From watching all weekend it looked like you were on the tree. Nice to see some Pure Stockers there. Glad you all had fun and that the rain held off. The internet coverage was really nice and made it enjoyable for those of us that couldn't come.

Do you have Academy Sports up that way Dan? We bought a really nice, high quality 10' x 10' canopy (variety of colors to choose from) for $49 from them; everyday price. It's held up nicely. You could get one on-line if you don't have the stores.

I understand Corbitt. Without driver we're about 3050 which our Impala couldn't weigh if you cut it in half! :)

Hey Steve,...err Scott :D

The Colman Canopy was a very good design.
You can could open, set up and close and repack without any help.
Also had 4 Lights bright enough to work on the car at night.

As for cutting lights. It was tough to do so. The sun played havoc.
Morning no sun in your face could cut good Lights.
Saturday S/SS Combo Evening time whooo.....
Got away with one win when the other car red lit.

Sunday changed tire pressures to tune the launch.
Got more consistent but lasted only 2 rounds.

I hope to be working with IHRA and the www.purestockdrags.com/p/rules.html.
They use the old NHRA Tech Specs but have an interesting use of the rules.

Re: Pure Stockers at Class Nationals

Hello All, Newbie to the site but i know these guys with the Mopars. The Challenger and the Cuda are out of MI and the 64 Max Wedge is from TN. All of them run in Pure Stock Drags. The red 64 Plymouth Max Wedge set the low ET for this race. The question was asked about the T/A hood on the Challenger. In 70 you could order a shaker hood but if it was not available at time of production a fiberglass T/A hood was put on. This is according to the restoration guide for Cudas and Challengers.
