i phone app
Does anyone out there know of an i phone app for weather
to be used at tracks for race applications thanks in advance for any answers ...Bryan stk 511 |
Re: i phone app
I have two on my iPhone that aren't "weather" apps per say but one gives you the physical altitude where you are standing. It's called "Altimeter" And the other called "Density" gives you the corrected altitude. Both are pretty accurate so far. You can get both at the app store. Jim

Re: i phone app
DragTimes ap. Pretty neat. Has location and elevation information for most every dragstrip, density alititude, and real-time weather changes. Plus some neat fun stuff like HP estimator, etc.

Re: i phone app
I have Race IQ on my phone. But for some reason the readings on it are no where near what my weather station are (Off about 800 feet). And its not much good at tracks that are out in the boonies as it uses info from airports to calculate DA.

Re: i phone app
Jim , can you give anymore info on the "density" app ....... as to which one ?
Thanks Rick |
Re: i phone app
Rick, it's a very simple app and I believe it is called "Density". At the top it says "Simple Density Altitude Calculation". Jim

Re: i phone app
Jim,....... does the user have to supply input !
Thanks Rick |
Re: i phone app
Rick,
Yes. 1. Physical altitude 2. Temperature 3. Barometric Pressure. That's it. It will then calculate Corrected Altitude. Jim . |

Thanks Jim !

Re: i phone app
The app titled Density that I was able to locate related to welding. ..
Did find Air Density Meter for Jetting. Gives Air density, pressure, temperature, humidity and altitude based of the nearest weather station. That was 1.9 Kilometer for me in Lakewood, Washington. Not free. Not a set of aluminum heads, either. Dale |
Re: i phone app
I really can't give you any more info than I already have. Those two names are all that comes up. I do know the app wouldn't have cost more than $.1.99 or I wouldn't have bought it!! It really is surprisingly close to what my PA2 and Kestral show and I have used it in the staging lanes and being so cheap it is amazing!
I don't know why you guys can't find it. I'll do some research.Jim . |
Re: i phone app
Okay. In the app store, go to the search mode. type in Density Altitude Calculator and there you are!! It doesn't tell me how much it is because I've already bought it. Like Mikey says "Try it! You'll like it!". Jim

Re: i phone app
I found it but it requires me to enter a lot of info like altitude, temp and bp. I had to refer back to Air Density for Jetting to get that info. See post 11. If you need a weather station to use it, how does it help?

Re: i phone app
I have an iPhone app called "My Altitude". It gives you the altitude & barometric pressure based on your location. Get the temp from a weather app and you have all you need for the "Density" app.
