Live from Englishtown,NJ - NHRA Summernationals

Geez- Seems like it was only yesterday I was welcoming you to Maple Grove and here we are Old Bridge Township Raceway Park .Summer season has started as we'll hit tracks week after week and now I'm trying to figure out when I'll have time to work .Hmmmmm.......Maybe I can get a raise here at ClassRacer and not have any worries .

Today its lines to get in and more lines at Tech ..........And did I mention the "R" word ? Yes , some is expected this afternoon .

More later .....And maybe , just maybe I can get Kenny to help out a little this weekend .Lately he's acting more and more like a 'professional' racer .Wonder where he picked that habit up from ?

Yes sir folks its a cool cloudy day as we sit waiting to get parked which should start at ten. They pulled in over a hundreds rigs in yesterday, it should make the parking go much smoother today.

The weather for the rest of the week looks good, with a cool Thursday qualifying in the low 60's. Warming up nicely to the low 70's for the remainder of the week with very little chance of rain.

I will be back later with photos form the tech line.

"I'll be back" is a associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger - the non-Biondo terminator (wow 6 wins already this year 4 SS, 2 Stk)

Have a great race guys

Well Jack has to be close because the heavens opened up with a strong but short down poor. The rain has stopped and its still on the cool side with cloudy skies. Not many cars out but I did get few shots from tech before the rains came.

Need not to worry Jack, your boss is pitted right next to me.
I'll make sure he's working & not "slacking"....

OK - So you want to know - I mean really know if you're at the least expensive gas station in town - how can you be sure ? This is a surefire telltale sign - if the 'Fletchberg' crew is gassing up at a station rest assured its the best and the cheapest .And I must admit if I traveled as many miles as they do I'd be watching every sign for the best price .........Come to think of it I do ........Hmmmmm ! ! !

The Raceway station pictured here is always the place to buy diesel and gas when coming to Raceway Park .And no - the track doesn't own it .

And thanks Dan for the picture ....................

Probably the only place where they hold tech inspection right on a dragstrip.

That is on the separate 1/8th mile track and the tower is the old one.

They run Jr dragsters there on regular race days.

Englishtown is a very big facility...

Good morning -- Welcome to day 1 of the Summernationals . Really ?? It feels more like the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic in October than Summer in New Jersey .High forties last night with a breeze and now its barely fifty out and all cloud covered .The weather people are calling for a high in the mid-sixties today .

Good news? First of all we get to sleep in at this race - no early starts here - first cars won't go down the track till 10:15 because of local regulations .

Enough of the weather - lets talk about the full pits .Holy cow - I know I wasn't the first one here but I'm so close to the back gate that if I was any closer I'd be out in the street .This place is full - I mean really full .Not sure if its bigger rigs - more entries or the Pro's taking up pit parking .I might have to refuel on the way to the starting line .Yeah I know - bitch , bitch , bitch and moan .But then I've been coming here so long I remember racing here at the Summernats when you got a Sunday time trial .

Ken and I will be back a little later with facts and photos ...........

PS - A needy person I know could use a pair of single day passes if anyone has any - thanks .

Another year at etown, big change in weather....almost no change in the crappy run order from last year....and again the only place our Challenger has spun the tires in Q2 for stock...I did notice that stock and SS where not dead full before I left for up here - maybe others remember how terrible it was last year.

Stock and Super Stock are done for the day. The internet has slowed up today making load times for photos very slow. I'm trying to upload two in car cams, but its slow going.

Here are some Super Stockers getting ready for their second qualifying.

I will be back later when their is a better connection.

Re: Live from Englishtown,NJ - NHRA Summernationals

Good morning - Wow - what a morning we have here @ Old Bridge Twsp. - super sunny and almost no clouds with temps in the lo fifties but expected to reach into the seventies .And as yesterday the humidity will be in the 40 range with the barometer being again 30 plus.Yesterday saw some great performances because of these numbers and today it will happen once more .

This morning will see Stock get their final qualifier along with SuperStock starting their class runoffs .And once again the starting time will be at 10:15.After Stocks' final Q run they'll have rounds one and two this afternoon .

S/S class has some real battles going on - how about GT/HA having Cantucci / Bagley /Rampy and Broucher all within .015 of each other .Then we have SS/BA with Bongiovanni / Belles with .009 between themselves. Also there is GT/FA with Stevenson and Bardecoff within .014 of each other .And the Combo Cup Automatic deal has Marc LaBrecque on top of the leader board with his SS/TC Chevrolet S10 truck . The question is as always - who hasn't shown their hand ? Who will end up with the hardware is anybody's guess at this point .

Stay tuned as its to be an exciting day and ClassRacer will cover it for you .......Later - I've got to go and warm up my camera ! ! !

Good morning Jack,
Thanks for all you and Ken are posting about. I'm not sure if stock runs for class, but it would be a good match-up between you and Stephen Smyth in the Portatree Challenger. Like a Factory/Stock show down without the showdown.
You 2 are fairly close e.t. wise. Wishing you all a safe and productive weekend.

Good morning all and thanks Jack and Ken for the updates. Big brown gave me sick days to use so because of that great policy I will be attending today thru sunday. Something called E-Town flu not sure when I got it but open exhaust race cars is the cure. Good luck everybody and be safe. Will try to get over to say hello and thank people for all you do.
