"Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

We should be in Donaldsonville in time for supper at Landry's in Pierre Part this evening! We decided to avoid all the hassle of the DOT in Illinois and come south for a points race instead of racing in Joliet this weekend. Besides there is lots better food down this way! And you know me and Larry--that makes a difference in where we go! Although Mr. B's across from the track in Joliet is a great place to eat. Also the Chicago pizza place we found a couple of years ago with Mike and Paula!

We will be out at the track tomorrow and getting ready to run the test and tune and the Combo race on Friday. Then good racing on Saturday and Sunday. It looks like there is going to be good weather all week! Typical Louisiana weather 87 and just a 10% or so chance for afternoon showers!

Come on down and join us!!

So glad to see you guys come down and enjoy the deep south in the summer! Looking like we will be extremely luck with the weather as last weekend it was a flood fest in these parts. See you guys Friday.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

I got to see something new on the way to supper, a gator on the side of the road eyeing his supper; fresh road kill! On the way back to the track we see another gator, this one is much taller than the small fry we saw previous.

Racing in the south is "Way Cool"

Getting ready today. One rig on site, and another going today (hopefully). Test tomorrow, win the gamblers race, and generally have a good time. Who is coming? How's ya Mama an them? Don't forget to make groceries before you go.

If I can get my rig off the "neutral ground" I will be there for a chassis cert and grade point.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

I have a special request. If there is an English teacher in the vast aray of folks going to the race, we need to educate Sammy P. in grammar and spelling and proper punctuation. I mean I just read one of his post. No caps. No space between sentences. Spelling. I will donate the computer and can use my motor home (cool comfort). In that many years you would think proper English would have occurred by osmosis. How about a little help from some of you educators.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

I would gladly help Sammy my qualifications are as followes got a degree from playing basketball so basketbawl has been verygood to me plus I always liked my grammer she was a good cook and believed in the 3 r s she liked raslin and I cant remember what the other 2 r s stood for it might be difficult to get some information through a semipermeable membrane but I will do my best.

Hey Jeff, why you on Sammy's back? He reeds & rites like us Okies.

Hope you guys all have a great weekend. I now wish I was coming.

Guess it's one less chance for Bret C. to hand me my tail.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Well, good morning from Belle Rose!! It is cloudy today with a little bit of sun peaking thru. We just had a few sprinkles here. Just enough to get all my chairs wet! We are parked up next to the Country Dog and Puppy. We are looking forward to a big time this weekend! Like Larry said, we went out to Landry's last night for supper and saw an alligator right beside the road. Then coming home last night, there was another BIG one just about a mile from the track. I tried to get a picture, but after Jimmy got out of the truck yelling "Choot em, choot em" it scared it so bad it moved to where I couldn't get his picture!

I believe someone has the track rented for today, but nobody has gone down yet. We are going to run the test and tune tomorrow and the gamblers race, too.

More a little later.

Today should a good one with test and tune 10 am to 3pm for $75 and the Engines Inc. Stock Super Stock Showdown race. Entry for the Showdown race is only $20 we get one time trial and start racing.

Last night we got some more e-bay beer just in case, we don't want to run low. We also purchased some local fresh eggs. The eggs were mixed in size and color, brown, white, and some that had a green tint to a white egg. So this morning we will skip bacon and eggs and dine on the world famous green eggs and ham. Rumor has it that the "Cat In The Hat" aka Jack Roush might be here this weekend to work on some local mustangs, but its only a rumor.

Over at Jimmy's last night for a delicious crawfish boil. The other man in the picture is Mr. Pat Joffrion's brother! Thank you to Bear and David Beudrou for peeling my crawfish for me last night. I was so slow, they thought I was going to starve to death. You know how undernourished I look! LOL

Here are some of the green eggs that we had for breakfast this morning along with some ham. Jimmy's grandchildren raised the chickens and now are selling fresh eggs! Yum, yum!

larry are there dry county's down there and beer can only
be found on e-bay? and hopefully choices exceed ice beer
,malt liquor, and not only in a 40 ounce container !

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Yes, congrats to Mr. Navarre for winning the Combo last night and also to you, Brett, for winning super stock, then running it up in the Combo.

Today is another gorgeous day here in the deep South! Weather shows it going up to about 91, which beats the 96 from yesterday! Stock goes out in about a half hour. Everyone is showing getting 3 qualifying runs today, then eliminations tomorrow. Drag Race Central should be showing the results today.

More later

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Location! Location! Location! We have the best pit spot ever thanks to Jimmy Hildalgo , Coty and Zeek. 30 amp power, water, and a place for blackwater looking at the 1/8 mile cone. All of that is great but now comes the good part! We are one spot down from the Garrison racing and cooking compound. They cook every day: pork, chicken, fish, sausage, green beans, crawfish ettafay, seafood balls and just a host of other great Cajun dishes. The smell alone will pick you up two tenths. Mr. Garrison cooks for everybody and everything is wonderful

Something interesting happened this morning during first round of qualifying! They had to stop for a couple of minutes to get the cottonmouth snake off the starting line. Evidently the snake had ridden up on someone's car and fell off when the car left the starting line! Now that's a first!!

It is still hot and humid here!

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose LODRS 2014

Ebay beer. Jeff had some old leftover parts that he sent me back in the winter. The parts I did not buy from Jeff I sold on Ebay for beer money. That's why we have Ebay beer. If we don't race a lot this summer we should be liquid enough in our account to cover the refreshment cost of the 60th US Nationals! Ain't nothing like proper planning.

Well we now get to watch for the rest of the day! Larry got a little overanxious and red-lighted! He was right behind Jimmy who red-lighted too. Cooter made it thru first round and so did Kevin Helms, so we have somebody to cheer for the rest of the day! And super stock will be up soon, so we can yell for Jeff and Joey Teuton and Kevin and Cooter again!

Happy Birthday today to Steven Hall! He is 43 today! Also with birthdays this week and next are Britt Cummings, Ray Buckner and our neighbors for the weekend- Duke Himel and David Beaudro!
