Driveshaft Speed Sensors
Should they be banned in Stock Eliminator?

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
as long as they are solely hooked to a data logger for the purpose of measuring converter or clutch slip, no. If its being converted to MPH and displayed or its hooked to an ignition box, yes.

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
Maybe they should check on this...............

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
I was told this weekend that some Cobra Jet cars come with traction control from the factory and therefore it is legal.
Is that true? (I have no clue... flame suit on...) |

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
I'm always envious of those high hp. cars that only slip a radial tire a half of a turn at a hot and slick track.

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
That's a problem if the DS speed is not separate from the engine management system. The new cars probably have all sensors being monitored, so it would be very easy to manipulate the engine output if the DS speed did not match the front tire speed. Data acquisition and engine management should be separate.

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
Good afternoon Guys,
The production Cobra Jet's do not have traction control. Could they? yes, but not any easier than putting a Davis system on your carbureted car. Or running a delay box. See you at the races, Wayne Kerr |
Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
Shelby Mustangs come with traction control, Cobra Jet Mustangs do not.

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
I would add wheel sensors to the discussion.

Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
As long as there is a way to be sure someone is not using them for illegal purpose.
Holley EFI had provided a custom port on the Dominater PCM's and a custom tool given to only NHRA to check if traction control is being used. They said that there is no way to tamper with this part of the computer just for this reason. |
Re: Driveshaft Speed Sensors
I also wonder if the new vehicles with the drive by wire gas pedal can be manipulated for some type of delay.
I have a delay in the pedal on my car. Only problem is its between the brain and foot and the brain gets alzheimers occasionally. |
