I am very slowly building a base sedan for either DA or EA. I'll get it done eventually.

Mine was supposed to be an executive lease car in Cleveland, but it is a very late build (July, 1966). As I was told by the original owner (a Dodge dealer in Eastern Ohio), the car sat in Cleveland for a few weeks and no one touched it. Presumably because the '67's were coming out and no one wanted the base model from the year before. He bought it at the Dodge Dealer's auction with 11 miles on it, and gave it to his wife to drive for a month to season the block. After that he put a 4-speed in the car along with a 4.56 Dana, and it has been a race car ever since.

Paint was done around 1974-75. Car was last raced in Formula Stock around 1980-81, therefore the snorkel scoop.

A friend of mine has one of the 4 speed cars. EE1 with light blue interior. Car had King HEMI written on the sides. I have been trying to find a back in the day picture of it for years, with no luck.

The sedans are like hen's teeth and a Dodge even harder to find. Your Div 4 buddy Bill Gibbs (he was at Belle Rose) Ohio's own Craig Michael, Bob Wall, Jim Isherwood ( I think he was parked next to you at Indy in 09) and Jason McCormack all are racing this year in Plymouths but only McCormick's and Michael's are sedan's or post cars as the younger set calls them.

How can these cars run a hood scoop, only the RO cars had scoops from the factory?

I believe the NHRA recently changed the rules so you can run the RO scoop on the '66 Hemi cars. As long as it is identical to an original (and steel)

May just have your brother car. This is a brown Custom Deluxe 4 speed car, not ordered according to fender tag. Build date was July 18. Check first three numbers of bottom row fender tag ie 718. How close to yours?

Hopefully this thread will reveal its ownership history. I am the third owner of the green car earlier in this thread and correspond regularly with owner 1 & 2. Will post a pic of owner 1 with a buck deer tied to the trunk. Si and Phil can't top that!!! Stephen

You didn't happen to buy the car out of New Castle, PA did you? If so, that's a shame, because that car was literally unmolested before Joe and Vic got their hands on it.

I don't have the fender tag for mine. Previous owner removed it and the family is keeping an eye out for it as they clean the garage out. I'm going off of the word of the original owner, who was a Dodge dealer. If you would like to talk, Frito has my number.

That's it and we gave it a good going over. Seems all for sale have been restored. This one was not. They had the motor professionally done and we checked with the engine builder. Just a lot of spray on oil on the underside and engine room. Darn sure not going to rust. Thanks for your call on it. Will post a pic in a few days of the two benchmarks.

Really...

How come I can't cut holes in my 64 hood and slap on a max wedge scoop instead of running a max wedge with a flat hood?

It could be bogus info - I heard it word of mouth from a class racer a few years back.

We just entered these cars in the 2015 Great Race which is June 19-28. St Louis to Ca. down route 66. The green one is an unrestored two owner auto shift car with 95000 miles. Motor rebuilt at 78k miles.

The brown one is unrestored five owner stick car with 41000 miles and a fresh motor. Really only driven by the original owner. Spent most of it's life in storage.

Jim, because the scoop only came on the alum. front end cars.

Hey Bob, how are you doing?

I know that but they are putting RO scoops on sedans that never came with scoops so why can't I do the same...put a scoop on a car that wasn't manufactured with one? Looks like the same situation to me.

At least it wasn't on the hood. I've seen that quite a few times in my yute in NM.

Check out the Great Race website and under the "Cities" tab you will get the route. This 66 Hemi Coronet will attempt to make the trek. Each stop is a car show so if your on the route, come by and say Hi! Will be using the wipers the first few days

I believe the NHRA recently changed the rules and made the 1969 camaro remove them if it didn't come from the factory.

Bad enough it's the wrong body style, 1966 nothing MOPAR made from the factory came with a scoop NOTHING!!! Jim does NHRA know this? Didn't they just take scoops off of the camaro that did not come from the factory.

Correct, Frank. For moment I was thinking Jere Stahl's '66 Plymouth championship car had a scoop,, but I googled some photos, and they all showed NO hood scoop! Dang! Its tough getting old,, I suffer from CRS syndrome!!
