"Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Here we go!! It's a hot one out here already and promising to be a lot hotter for the next two days. If this race was next weekend, it would be in the 80's again. Talked to a couple of racers already and the word of the weekend is SLOW. Several cars here already, but still lots of room for more.

Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Pretty quiet tonight. Rode up just as Tom Cain was making a pass in his nice SS/BS Cobalt.
Greetings from Topeka! |

Stock has made their first hit of the day. Will have results as soon as they're posted. Does anyone know if DRC is on the seen this weekend?
|
Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
I believe DRC is present. Thanks to the sponsorship from D5 racer Phil Unruh.

Looks like most are off a solid .20 or better from the heat.
|
Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
We were off that much. Car doesn't seem to like O2 readings in the 9 and 10's for some reason.
97 degrees, 4750 DA. Getting better and better.  And yes, a big thanks to Phil Unruh for making the results possible throughout the weekend with DRC and Bob Orme for doin the leg work while we all play this weekend! |

Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Schedule Change:
We are starting at 8:00 am and from what I've been told, everybody gets one run before eliminations start. Original schedule showed eliminations at 9 am, so that's a good thing. |
Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Mike thanks for all the pics and good luck

Did anyone see a run schedule for the morning. Wasn't one posted when we left the track.

Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Temp has dropped with all this cloud cover. Waiting out a small "sprinkle".
Q4 this morning saw 4046 DA. We are a couple of degrees cooler now, at 85 degrees, DA 4133. Still, much better than yesterday. Super Stock still waiting for Rd1. Check out DRC for Stock Rd1 results. Watch a got there today in Tulsa, Ed Wright?? |
Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
93 here right now. My motor home is sitting where we store it inside. I saw you post late yesterday there would be another round of quaifying for this morning, so went to bed thinking I would get up about 5:00 and just head that way with the Suburban since I would not be spending the night. Most always have to get up to pee about 5:00 every morning. Should have set the alarm. My blader is usually my alarm. Slept till almost seven. Didn't figure I could get there in time then. Even number of cars, figured I could pop up there and go #1 and get a bye first round. LOL! Just kidding.

Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
It was a long, hot two-and-a-half days in Topeka. Our first round matchup with Larry Hodge was met with much anticipation. Who wouldn't want to be the ones to knock him back down to earth. He's been on such a tear lately, and we soon found out he wasn't going to be stopped. At least by us anyway.
Dad took the stripe by .0077, but broke out a tenth to do it. The classic "good light, bad light" story. Dad beat him first round of Indy in 2008, so I guess they're even. Meeting and talking with Larry over the course of the day, I'd have to say he's another one of the class acts of our sport. Great guy, fun weekend. And most importantly, got back home safely. So, for all of you who stayed home because of the heat, just wait for a month from now when we get to do it all over again here in Topeka. Will we see 110-112 degrees. I wouldn't bet against it! Congrats to all of the winners today. You all truly earned it! |
Re: "Live from" Topeka - LODRS D5-4
Took me long enough to finally do something on my computer, other than work. Better late than never, I guess!?! Apparently, I forgot how to embed video, so no thumbnails, just links.
This first video is during qualifying. A unique perspective from under the rear bumper. http://youtu.be/W2DyIbf0phw?list=UU3...8KeDWH5wHXkJSg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/W2DyIbf0phw?list=UU3KIX2xQf8KeDWH5wHXkJSg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The second video is our Rd 1 matchup with Larry Hodge. Nothing like locking horns with the guy on a hot streak. Nails. http://youtu.be/sbplhv7IwFM?list=UU3...8KeDWH5wHXkJSg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sbplhv7IwFM?list=UU3KIX2xQf8KeDWH5wHXkJSg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
