Combo at Pacific raceway results
We had a 29 car field last night with some new racers joining us like Steve Adams driving one of Brian Seabergs cars to the quart finals, Darrel Stobbe in his 65 Malibu, Chris Barnes in the wagon of steel thanks for the tee shirt,Tory Hadley driving Rick Greens car and Gary Howe in his 55 Chevy. So semis were Edgeworth vs Warter and McKinney vs Lang. Final was McKinney over Edgeworth. Congrats to McKinney was assume at the tree all day, I know by the .012 light against me in the quarts that put me in the trailer. He is going to by tuff next weekend at the nationals in SS. Most all these cars will be back next weekend for the nationals so this was a great test session for everybody. Are next race is in 2 weeks the weekend after the nationals and the week before the divisional race. We should have a really good car count at this one some Div 7 guys will also stay and race with us. So I guess this will beat are previous car count of 32 earlier this year hopefully over 40 cars. Forgot to mention the track was great no traction problems. See you at the races. Dale was there with his camera so some pictures should get posted hopefully later today.

Re: Combo at Pacific raceway results
Don Elgin was on the lot running in the bracket race, so there were actually 30 S and SS cars entered. Here is the final round and the Winner Portrait. I will post the run order and shots from the pits and round one over the next few days.

Re: Combo at Pacific raceway results
I had a great time yesterday. Got a chance to see many friends and talk with a lot of people all day long. Yes I was there from 9 a.m. until the last car went down the track about 8 p.m. Still can't believe Troy's 66 Wagon, nearly on the bumper EVERY pass he made. Good to see some new cars out for this show. Sounds like the next event will be awesome. Yes James there definitely should be over 40 cars there. Since the event is right between the National and the Divisional - can't wait. I will be there at the water box, as usual. Thanks again for the qualifying sheet.
Danny Durham - Thanks for letting me hang out at your trailer, much appreciated. Missed saying thanks in person by minutes. Dale - Even though Don was there, he wasn't entered in the actual stock super/stock combo race. Also, Jason Biscay was there with Bernie Plourd's D/SA? Chevelle, but broke. |

Re: Combo at Pacific raceway results
I thought it was a very good day,,, I like the way the program was run all day, save for the few incidents that can happen at any drag race,,, oil downs, broken cars etc.
I enjoyed seeing some different cars this time,,, can't wait for the nationals next weekend. I was holding my own over in Pro Bracket, and then I got paired up with Brian Thompson and his stocker 5.0 Mustang, who was doing double duty. He had a .009 to my .005, but unfortunately, mine was on the red side of things. Way to go BT, a nice job. Ron,, you're more than welcome to come out of the hot sun anytime,,, didn't need the doughnuts to bribe me! James,, it was nice to see you again, if only for a moment, in the lanes. I'm glad you made the trip. On one of my trips down the return road, in front of the stands, I looked across the track, and way up in the aluminum stands I saw a lonely figure, with a hat and towel around his head, and a long lensed camera on his lap, looking all like a sniper,,, I'm wondering if that was "Firesail Dale", as I see the photos posted on here. All in all, it was my first "Super Saturday" I've attended, and I'd recommend them to any fan or racer. Danny Durham |

Yup, that was me. It's a safari hat and a real lifesaver on a hot day.

He calls it Sea Foam Green with ghost flames.

Re: Combo at Pacific raceway results
Yeah,, that's the color combo that was on the car when I bought it from the Shipp family of Whiteland, Indiana back in '03. I was told its Seafoam green,, I know your car is very similar color wise, Maurice. Perhaps you've got the correct name of the color, I have no '68 Chevy II brochures to look it up. The car has served me well,, only the 2nd engine in 11 years,, and it will cut great lights when the rusty 'ol fart behind the wheel does his job. Nice shot, Dale. I'm thinking I may have to go up a pound or two on the rears,, does it look like they're "wadding up" a little too much?

Don Anderson M/S #5342:D Don, speaking of Brian's trailer, You should see it. I wish I had a photo to show you. It's a triple axle open trailer. It hauls his stocker, super/stocker and golf cart. Brian tows it with a truck and camper. Very cool and very old school. See the race cars going down the road - cool factor is way up there. |
