anyone sell Falken tires?
 

My daughter popped a hard to find Falken tire on my Firebird. Evidently the Ziex 512 is no longer made, I need a 255/50/16, and can't find one. I had a brand new set until Wednesday, the car is rarely driven anymore, I put new tires on last year. I'd really rather not buy another new set. If anyone knows where I can find a new tire like mine, or even a 90% or better used one, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I've made calls around NY. So far nothing but have a friend calling now his connections thru dealer parts dept. for me. He sometimes finds what I can't.

This is my "spare" car, I let my daughter use it until she gets a car, she's working her way into law school. Trying to keep her in something to drive while she gets a job and gets back in school, but trying to keep a lid on the budget.

It's on a 16"x9" rim, that's why the 255/50/16 is important, the 245 is not a good fit, and I don't have much faith in it.

Alan, My friend said they have 2 tires. My friend wants someone to actually see them and there is nobody at the warehouse today. There will however be somebody there tomorrow afternoon to fill Monday deliveries. He will call back and let me know. If that is the case, he said you can call and order them and he will have them sent to where you want them.

John, I've looked several times on ebay and at Discount Tire Direct, including their ebay store. I cannot find those tires there. Discount Tire Direct is where my tires came from, and we've talked to three people from there in the last couple of days, with no luck. One of them went so far as to laugh and ask my daughter if she was serious.

If I can find two at any sort of reasonable price, I'll buy them, it will evidently be essential to have a spare.

It's a shame they stopped making those tires. I switched to Falken because Goodyear, the OE supplier, stopped making that size a few years back. But the Falken tires have been great, when we were driving the car daily, we were getting 60K miles out of a set, and they were great in anything but snow.

Looks like after this set, I'll either switch wheels, or switch to B.F. Goodrich, and hope they don't quit making them. I was actually hoping to get a second set of wheels, and put them on my 65 Corvair Corsa 140 when we get it together. I think I'll make other plans.

Allen, I found the tires and called the 888 number and had them check the stock only to find out they were shipped out on Friday to a buyer and the add had not yet been removed. As of about 15 minutes ago the add is still posted but now an - out of stock- disclaimer is posted. Sorry buddy, I tried.

They must be good tires to have sold out so completely. Somewhere in some dark warehouse there has to be some of those tires. Unfortunately, the mission to find them is daunting.:eek:

You ain't wrong. They are great tires, especially for the price. They were so good they had to stop making them evidently. There have not been too many choices in that size for a while. It's the same tire that fits the "high performance" version of the Corvette from around 1984 to 1990 or so, on a 16" x 9" wheel.
