One of our locals here on the left coast, Mark Kirby F/SA Mopar The Grape Ape, is leaving this week to check another item off his bucket list. Wish him all the luck in the world. Mark and Nancy are nice people.

That's going to keep them busy. Can you imagine having to tech 50 engines? They don't pay those men enough.

They used to teardown every winner and runnerup. One year in g/sa they had the fastest 6 out of 12 cars tear down. They would start tearing them down as soon as class run offs started.

Do they ever tear down the top qualifiers? (Don't know and asking?)

Anyone qualified could be
subjected to inspection. At this race there is more
teardowns than any other race.....

Ok. That is what I understood. The top guys don't end up on that list from what I have seen the last few years. I was surprised at who they pick. Thanks for clearing it up for me.:D

Sure. great to see you on the forum Ross.
You are a great addition to div. 5 , nhra racing and stock elim.
Good to see energy and new people. Can use
some more foresure. Don't rule out combo races
at bandimere.

Was thinking one other reason why top qualifiers may not
get tear down is if they have had previous inspection NHRA
does keep record and likely would not look at them
again if they passed in last 12 months. Do believe NHRA does best
they can to keep things fair.

Thanks for the kind words. It sure has been a learning experience jumping right in the fire. You and Lane have been very cool to me. Going to try to make one more combo race up there this year.

Someday I sure hope to race Indy, (have to work harder on my car) just not ready to run with the big guys yet. After every race it's like the lights get brighter in the room... LOL.:D

I was selected for "the barn" the first year I ran Stock at Indy and the best pass I made was almost .4 over?

Maybe they wanted you to tear down to see why you were so slow? Lol

We went to 2 Winternationals and were torn down both times...never got to visit the Museum

They do try to record when you were last torn down. We could count on tearing down at least once a year with each car. Indy usually if I won class. Sometimes Gators and Indy.

One year I was asked to take the trans out and open it up.
I thought Travis was kidding, it was no joke. Pull that Stocker 5sp apart.
Never heard of anyone else having to do that before.

I was torn down a few years ago as #2 qualifier less than a month after being torn down for setting the record - motor was still sealed from the last teardown. The reason given to me for being picked was based on being #2 qualifier.

Thanks!! That is what I was looking for. I wasn't sure that happened to the upper qualifiers. (Again, didn't know any better!)

Same happened to me in 2010...Set the record at an open In January.
#1 at April Vegas meet..Picked for teardown ..I pointed out the record deal to Bruce.
The Dan Man says tear him down anyway.
I guess I should have taken it as a compliment..They knew I'd pass.
Everybody comes out looking good.
