You don't think the car will qualify next year?

Usually doesn't happen to me but for some reason I just can't bring myself to respond with the smarta** answers that come to mind. Must be getting old or don't want to be the one to start the storm.

I asked him in the lanes. He said the car owner told him "run it out".

I think that should be for the V-6 that Larry Hill has in his truck. I think the C.I. should be about 280 or so, not sure exactly. The other 1986 truck in the list is Paul Wong's truck I believe.

It is.

Which 350 powered truck went far enough under to get an instant hit?

Re: Horsepower Adjustments

Paul Wong went 1.25 under.

"The horsepower rating for 1986 Chevrolet truck, entries with the 305 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 155 currently rated at 155, has been increased by twenty nine horsepower, to 184 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator."

Gawd that's embarrassing... for someone.

Doesn't instill much confidence in their system.

86 c-10 at 155 factory hp is a 262 CID (4.3 v6).

A 305 is not currently listed in the guide for 86 c10.

Easily, yes, but still think it is nuts. Wasn't like those that did it had to do it.

The way I see it is the Car Owner is an IDIOT and the Driver is an IDIOT...Pretty simple!

I think a racer and car owner did what they wanted to do with their car and their money. Now turn it up and do it some more.

I know I spoke at length (as have many) about the lack of AHFS for the FSS race.

Now, let me play devils advocate. I spoke about this on our radio show last night: how do you add HP to an 'artificial' class with an artificial weight and do it fairly? Example: BB/SA is a 7.00 pounds per HP + 170 class. A 427 COPO would run this, at whatever the minimum weight is and a 10.30 Index. It would run FS/B with a 10.35 Index at a 3,350 pound flat min wt. FSS is an abnormal class, Index and weight compared to traditional Stock Classes. It maybe be +/- 100 or so pounds, with a different Index than AA, BB, CC, etc. So, in a way, I don't know how you fairly add HP to it. That is why I proposed what I did on page 20 of the What's Wrong With Stock thread. That would increase FSS participation and allow for the AHFS to work normally.

A couple of messages; From the Larry Hill camp, anyone talking bad about the CC trucks gets pounded by that rather large fellow (from the movie Fire Down Below with Steven Segal), and I love the way the Bow Tie guys turn on each other for a minor mistake. All it did was speed up the progress. Welcome to the world of "Who Has The Biggest".

Re: Horsepower Adjustments

I have already solved this problem on a different thread..........

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi Guys & Gals,

This is my last post on this thread........

NHRA in its bipolar wisdom has, in the past, repaired an error of the same magnitude....

GM came out with the, street legal, in the Classification Guide, FI cars with the obscene low HP ratings to race the lower classes...

NHRA said that the AHFS would fix it. It didn't because they didn't have to go fast to race and they had a very large HP cushion to lean on...

NHRA, it's hard to believe, made the correct decision to put all of the FI cars in their own set of classes. When that happened it forced them to run their cars harder and take the AHFS hits.

After they beat each other up and had realistic HP ratings, NHRA removed the FI classes and put them back into the original class structure that they started in.

Those cars now raced in the appropriate classes..

But being bipolar, NHRA, can't look back and see how to fix this problem because they are blinded by money...

I don't care what they call the new Factory FX cars...

Maybe AFX/SA & AFX/S, BFX/SA & BFX/S, etc and have them race heads up, with the same exact rules for that ALL of the other cars that race Stock Eliminator race under until the HP numbers make sense...

This worked in the past, why not now??????????

Good luck,
Bob

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++

No one commented on this plan so either it is a very good plan or a very bad plan??????????????????

Which, as someone who is also directly affected by this, is how I have to see it. Still doesn't make it a particularly smart move on their part.

What are you worried about? Why would someone complain about a guy that "runs his car all out" when they've got a totally bogus HP rating, even after a "hit".
