Next they'll be checking seat belt certs on the 4 wheel mules people ride in the pits. Nhra is a sinking ship. Glad I'm not on it

Would not surprise me. I heard the same thing. The NHRA officials have to wear them now. It's an insurance thing.

In Florida you do not need to wear a helmet to ride a motorcycle or scooter on the road. Just saying

once you are inside a national eventsfacility it becomes just like a police state. They can do whatever they want including drug testing people who are not employed by them and paying them an entry fee for the privilege of being there craziest s*** I ever heard of

Same thing here in Kansas, Too bad that most of the organ donors are from the motorcycle riders in Kansas at our local hospitals.

So are they going to enforce the riders to have helmets like the underaged kids driving scooters and golf carts in the pits too?

Re: Scooters trending down?

Maybe they should mandate an inspection station at every event for pit scooters and golf carts. Check tire wear, suspension, exhaust, and all emission controls as well as safety equipment. Most racers would need to show up a day early to allow time for the inspections and be charged an extra fee at each event to pay for the added man hours of the race crew.

AW C'Mon guys, its gotta be a necessary rule due to ALL of the head injuries that have occurred during the past 5 years with pit scooter accidents.
They have been such a big problem that it's time to put a stop to it, damn it !! (JK)

Why do insurance companies think that they should be able to change US and the way we live. !!! PISS OFF !!

I can't stand the 'bubble wrap' mentality.

Here in Ca., running in the play ground at school is not allowed !

At the Hot Rod Reunions you must provide proof of insurance or purchase insurance for pit vehicles.

Re: Scooters trending down?

Golf carts will need state inspection and may not go over 8 mph! Also must pass emissions test. Electric golf carts exempt from this rule!

Re: Scooters trending down?

But, of course it's alright that scooters and golf carts are driven around the pits by 11-year-olds out for a joy ride.

We've got a 1/8 mile track out here where that has been the rule since a hot shot on his quad busted his melon doing wheelies and shut down the racing for 2 hours while they took him to the hospital.

Re: Scooters trending down?

Several years ago, a racer (who shall remain nameless) had just just finished winning the Seattle Natl event when his car got creamed by an inebriated NHRA official on a scooter. If you saw the Natl Dragster winners circle photos, you would have noticed that his car was the only one facing in the opposite direction (to hide the body damage). He was assured that by NHRA that they would compensate him for the damage but he never got a dime. He had a subtle jab lettered on his car regarding their lack of payment the next year and he was told by NHRA to either remove it or there would be consequences.

Well you see my avatar, the Fairlane is pointing the wrong way for just that reason! It wasn't an NHRA official but another compeditors "wife" maybe? I dont know who she was but this happened in the pits as well.
Nature has a way of balancing its self out. If you crash your scotter and blow out your mellon, well, survival of the fittest I say! Evolution will always overcome.

The EPA has set emission standards for out door BBQ grills and they will be enforced by the NHRA for 2015.
