Tom Compton at the Finals

:confused: To me Tom Compton looked like he didn't belong there. No real enthusiasm for the winners and a blank look on his face. Plus Erica almost hit him with the trophy. What do you all think??????

He never fits in IMHO. But I was impressed that she could get that trophy over her head. She only bobbled a little once at first.

He was there asking the hard questions, such as:

lifted from Dragracingonline.co
"Reportedly, some NHRA suits were asking how hard it would be for current NHRA Pro Stock teams to convert their operations to Pro Mod. If true, that is just one more example of how disconnected from the reality of drag racing some of the NHRA management is!"

He was just pondering how long the fat cheques would keep coming in. I think they have milked all the cows dry and future of pros. is a show coming to and end.

I bet he hated mingling with the blue collar rabble we call "racers". You bet he was chugging beers between his tough job of congratulating the winners. I was so hoping Erica would hit him with that trophy! He totally acted as though he wanted to be there.... NOT! Jim

I agree with you Jim 100%!!! He also probably was ok with ESPN's Top Ten list showing having Erica at #10 when what she did on Sunday was much more challenging to do than those in spots 4-9 (and probably all of them given the lack of help she got from other racers...sure fired leaver Jeg Coughlin having a -.023 reaction time against Jason Line, when normally if he'd red-bulb it would only be my thousandts of a second)! Way to go Erica!!!!

My heart feels the loss of Mr. Wally Parks when any of the current NHRA suits speak.

He has 0 interests in Drag Racing. Could care less about it. Take the money and run that's his plan. Once the ship goes down he will just move on. He does not care if there is a future for NHRA. He is only concerned about the future of his bank account.

This is not a personal attack on A100, but more so some food for thought for the unplease-able masses. Maybe he's laying the ground work for a new type of Pro Stock where the cars appear to be stock again like you have all asked for. One moment you complain that a Pro Stock Camaro looks nothing like what you drive on the street, and the next you say the guy is disconnected because he is trying to kill Pro Stock as we know it. What do you want?

So how is converting pro stockers to pro mods going to make them look more "stock"

And suddenly, you have even more wall banging track oilers. Who wants to see close racing? And pairs of cars making full passes? LOL

I personally love Pro Stock, and thought this year was the best ever. It may well have saved Pro Stock. I was rooting for Elite, but had Jason won it would have still produced a true champion. He was a gracious runner up, and nothing to be ashamed of. I do not know what NHRA plans for Pro Stock in the future, but completely changing it will, in my opinion, be the death blow.

I love it like it is. I am more impressed by NA power than blowers, turbo or for sure nitrous. Races are so close, and the vast majority can make a full pass every time. It's hard for me to understand guys saying they can't tell them apart. Heck, new cars look a lot alike on the street. The Pro Stock Camaro looks narrower than one in the parking lot. And?? What does that have to do with racing?

I agree. Pro Stock racing was better this year than any year I can remember. Quite a few times the #16 car was a good light away from winning it all. Much better than the old days when Glidden or WJ had the field covered by .2 and everyone else was running for 2nd place.
