GREETINGS FROM THE ALVEY, LAYER, NICESWANGER & WILKES FAMILIES:

It's once again time to begin planning our 12th Annual “OHIO VALLEY DRAG RACERS DINNER AND DANCE”. The Dinner & Dance will be on Saturday, January 24th, 2015, at the RAMADA PLAZA LOUISVILLE, 9700 Bluegrass Pkwy, Louisville Ky, 40299. Anyone booking rooms for the Ramada, please call 502-491-4830. Out of town guests staying Friday night the 23rd, the special room rate will be honored. When making your reservation please let them know that you are with the OHIO VALLEY DRAG RACERS PARTY for room rates of $69.95 per night. All room reservation MUST be reserved no later than January 9th, 2015. Our Hospitality Room will be open Friday night as well as Saturday. We encourage everyone to bring their own drinks, beer or liquor to the Hospitality Room. Soft drinks and snacks will be provided. Friday night everyone is welcome to gather in STADIUM JOE'S SPORTS CAFE (in the Hotel) for food and drinks.
There will be a band starting at 9:00 pm.
On Saturday, anyone wanting to participate in Go-Cart Racing, Matt has made reservations for 1:00pm.
Please let Matt know if you are planning to attend.

Saturday evening Cocktails will begin at 6:00 pm. Dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. Entertainment with our DJ will follow beginning at 8:00 pm. The cost for the Dinner & Dance will be $35.00 per person. Please make checks for dinner payable to Matt Alvey and mail to: 354 Cedar Brook Dr, Mt. Washington KY, 40047. Check MUST be received by January 9th, 2015. Due to the size of our banquet we are asking that all money is paid by January 9th, we WILL NOT be excepting money the evening of the banquet. SORRY NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
A cash bar will be available for your drinking pleasure. Anyone wanting to RESERVE a table in advance, please let us know prior to Saturday evening.

Once again we will be having a raffle & silent auction to offset the cost of our party. Any and all DONATIONS will be gladly appreciated. Alex Owens has all 2014 racing pictures on video for everyone to enjoy. We will be honoring all our Div. 3 Stock & Super Stock Champions.

THIS YEAR THE THEME FOR THE BANQUET IS A HAWAIIAN LUAU SO BRING YOUR FAVORITE SHIRT OR GRASS SKIRT TO WEAR......

By far the very best party of the year!!!...and don't forget...Hawaiian Theme this year so guys wearing grass skirts are encouraged!!!

So nobody has posted anything about the results of this party. I've seen other posts from MJ, Nitro Joe, and Mike Beard but none here about this event. Who won the go kart race ect?

Don't know who won the go kart race but my $$ would be on the ultra light weight Jeff Dona.I will tell you one thing, not only can Michael Beard race and promote drag racing....but he showed us locals some serious dance moves...Wow! On a side note , I don't know how many raffle tix they bought ,but Drew Whalen and his father carried away products by the armload. M.J.

Friday night, Redman kept us up til 3am with tales of yesteryear. Red, Nitro Joe and I discussed a couple little detail things for the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals. Rich South said he'd be willing to provide matching funds within a certain range if someone wants to help fund the Racer Appreciation Party (PM me for details). MJ Quinn's Derby City Covers is coming on board to present a Classic Coverall to the winner and runner-up in the Dave Layer Memorial Quick 32 CIC race (full announcement coming soon) and Legacy HVAC/Carrier is once again putting $250 toward the Q32 pot. Quick Fuel Technologies, who sponsored a great many door prizes and silent auction items at the banquet, will be the Naming Rights sponsor for Stock Eliminator at our event this year (full announcement coming soon)

At the go-kart track, Tom Reese won the first race followed by Jeff Dona, and they swapped the 1-2 spots in the second race. They changed the course up this year, and it was more challenging, I thought. (That and the driver got fatter...) I did decent the last two years, then finished dead last in the first race this year. Picked up .70 on my lap time in the second race and improved to 5th. Slow learner, but had a great time as always!

There was a second group... I think Drew Whalen was the man to beat in those races. The Whalen table also cleaned house with the door prizes. There were so many prizes though that a lot of other people were able to win, too! ;-) Lots of stuff from Quick Fuel, NitroPlate, Lucas Oil, Holley, California Cover Cover Co., VP Race Fuels, ATI, and more. Thanks to all!

FYI, don't let that cool exterior fool you: Peter Biondo terminates the competition in a dance-off, too... :eek: I got nuthin'! The ladies don't care if you can dance, just that you *will* dance. :cool: Fun times!

Sorry i haven't posted anything, still hung over lol. Dave Walther recieved Charlie Bohannon award and Cori Wilkes recieved Aaron Alvey tribute award. Congrats on the division 3 champs Ricky Decker and Randy Wilkes. Also to runner up in comp Rick Brown. Thanks again to all the sponsors that donate and all the girls that help put this party together. Great times. To all that didnt come, hope to see next year. Thanks Matt
