I don't mean to take anything away from Gary Wolkwitz; but Charlie Westcott Jr. set the SS/AH record at 8.22@162+ back in November of 2010 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. The NHRA retired the record after 2 years. Here is a link to a video of the run:

FWIW, I'd bet that the 2 mph and more than a few thousanths in ET can be attributed to better aerodynamics on the 'Cuda. Incredible nonetheless.

We will be testing RMRE latest version on Saturday at Evadale Texas before the Tim Hebert race at Belle Rose. It is up from Indy where it was No. 1 Qual on Wed. before I broke it. David, Bruce, Brad/Darien and the gang have really worked hard on this project. We will know at the Cajuns!!!

Since Houston was cancelled, just wanted to take this baby out for a spin locally. My buddy Mouton had a new 1350ish hemi 99 in his Coronet so wanted a grudge race. Youtube Mouton vs Hebert and turn the volume up. RMRE has developed a nice piece which goes 160ish No ProblemO. Of course Belle Rose will be the test.

Kent, Houser, Welker and I (maybe Perkins) are Liberty. I think Lil Joe's stick (red flame car) is Jerico. Lloyd's car goes both ways and auto was in at Indy so???? Liberty I think. Hope to have a good turnout at Belle Rose, I know of ten for sure. (Unless they break at Gainesville).

Two new stockers at Englishtown just went 8.38.
Put 10.5 tires on them and they could possibly outrun all the hemi's.

I am a native "West Virginia Hillbilly" from Grafton, WV, home of Wild Bill Collett . He and his Hillbilly are the main reason I ever got into drag racing, so I mean no disrespect to any of the Hemi's. I love them and I have been to races with him for many years and always enjoy watching those cars run.

Let's appreciate both types of cars for the amazing race cars that they are. The Factory Stock Showdown and the Hemi Challenge are the main reasons why I go to Indy every year; so let's enjoy their amazing performances without being critical of either type of car.

They are a Hemi…kind of,and yup,take the blower off and they can't run with a pushrod motor the same size! but they sure run with that blower!!! gotta give em credit for that.

Just to set the record straight, Gary Wolkwitz reset the record at the Virginia Points Race with an 8.21 with a zero. Also for future reference, the MPH in a stick car compared to an automatic car will more than likely be less. An Automatic car has converter slippage in high gear were a stick car is locked up one to one, therefore the stick car will produce a better MPH. Furturemore, Gary Wolkwitz has the faster car in SS/AH history and has posted several 8.20's runs which is outstanding for all the countless hours vested into the race car.

In mid February 2015 Gary Wolkwitz set the national record for SS/AH at Orlando Speed World Dragway at 8.22 seconds at 160.74 mph.

On Friday April 24, 2015 at Virginia Motorsports Park Gary reset the national record for SS/AH again with a 8.210 second run at 159.91 mph.

Because the mph posted on Gary's run in April was not as fast, the mph record for his run in February still stands. Also, you cannot set an NHRA national record for mph by itself.

My intel (and I am in the business) is that car has been dispatched by the Barton's to Division 4 to take out the RMRE cuda after the Tim Hebert Chootout final. Welcome Doug, we need the cars before these low 8 second showroom stockers put us in pasture.


PS Just being flip. I am in awe of what the factory race cars are becoming today.
