How anyone has a clue as to what you're talking about is a mystery. Thanks for producing an inane, mindless thread. |
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Bunkster, I guess you'll just have to ask Teuton how he figured it out.
Not much of mystery. LOL! |
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Chris Holbrook in FS/B trim on a 10.0 index at the NMRA Cobra Jet Shootout in Bradenton Florida.

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Just going by the 10.0 index which would be FS/B. In factory showdown trim the 2.9 Whipple cars have to weight 3550. Chris's car now sports a 25.5 cage so he can start dipping below the 8.50 range.
These things are rockets for sure!!! Impressive!! |
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Isn't 161 on a 9 inch tire kind of pushing it? Wow can't image being the slow stocker and having that thing flying up behind you.
|
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Wow! That is flying!

Well, his first pass in testing there went "only" 8.48 at 160.11 mph...yeah, I'd believe it. Pull all the extra weight out, and, whew... |

Nice run, but I am 100 times more impressed with Jonathan Womack's 8.54 at Gainsville with less cubic inches and no blower.

Re: 8.45/161.92...
For the Cobra Jet Showdown Chris had to weigh 3450lbs for his index.
The 8.45 run was in cool air and a tail wind. Great run! Randy Eakins was getting ready for Gainesville with the CJ Showdown and clicked off an 8.56 ET later that day weighing at least 3575lbs for his index. I believe Randy has a Holbrook engine under the hood as well. |
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Just watched the video . While I'm not a huge fan of the new cars that car leaves beautifully .... most come up real hard almost lifting the tires out of the beam with no forward motion . This car is one of the best leaving CJs I've ever seen IMO.

Why don't you go post about a NON-STOCK/SUPER STOCK topic somewhere else if you don't like it? Holbrook's run has zero to do with Stock/Super Stock. Its at an event where its all about cobra jets and nothing else. Its not even based on NHRA or IHRA rules.... and in case you missed it, this is the STOCK and SUPER STOCK forum. |

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Stock/Superstock should be N/A, IMO. Blower cars do not impress me. How fast is the N/A D3 head Cobra Jet, a little more interesting. BTW NMRA Renegade has been running this fast years ago.

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Guys why rain on this parade? Just compliment the run or shut up. If you want to give congrats to a specific person or tells us how you feel about blown cars start your own thread, it's really easy to do. I guess when you don't have a vehicle capable of running near this fast it's hard for some to appreciate...
Again hell of a pass! I don't care who you are! |

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Lol People coming in to try to kick sand in the face of the new car racers but then say new car owners demand attention?!?!
The CJ cars are teched going off NHRA stock/Super Stock rules. They changed up the weights this year a little bit and allowed tubular K-Members. Looking at the rules and Jesse stating the minimum weight that would mean Holbrook ran it as a 13 with a 3.5 upper pulley. (10.0 index according to qualifying. http://www.nmradigital.com/cat/class...5-cobrajet.pdf) Which would mean that there is still more power left because the 14 pulley is a 3.375. Holbrooks car is more as the factory produced then the other car. Smaller tire, more weight, larger car, stock suspension, less cubic inches, with factory cylinder heads…Just Saying ;) I prefer to be blown…but I dig NA cars too. |

All Cobra Jets must meet NHRA rules to run the Showdown. The race itself takes on different weight breaks per engine combos per Ford Racing's recommendations. |
Re: 8.45/161.92...
Gentleman, if you would like to make a post about the new cars, and don't want anyone to chime in. You can kindly go and post in the factory stock section. Its just 2 links down on the main page. This is the Stock/Super Stock section. Go post in that forum. Problem is, nobody post or even goes to that section. I'll have to assume, that's why Mr. Kepner posted it here. Nobody cares to even look in that section. What does that tell you?

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Hey guys, just wanted to tell you I took my super stocker out to the local track and ran a 9.44 in a car that usually is legal for GT/GA. Please, everyone be happy for me that I took my Super Stocker out, removed all the weight, threw another carb on it and then went really really fast in good air. I'm gonna post that in the STOCK/SUPER STOCK section and be mad when someone tells me about another car that did the same thing in legal trim at a real STOCK/SUPER STOCK event.

Re: 8.45/161.92...
Thanks Brett for sharing the time with us so we could applaud a gentlemen's hard work, time, and effort to make a car preform at the highest level. Since we believe that "real" stockers and super stockers do the same has to be the reason you posted it in this category and once the race he was at follows the same NHRA rules is most likely another. Being that I do drive a new car and I am very interested in great times no matter who, what, when, or where I say thanks!
I do not speak for everyone in this matter nor a spokes person for New Car owners. Joseph Teuton (I approve this message) :D |
