Live from Charlotte 4wide Nationals
 

Good morning from Charlotte, if you woke up this morning and heard it raining you were probably parked close to us. The rain moved in over night and appears to be hanging around for a good part of the day. This is my first National event so not a good start.
I'm no Patsy Hill, but I'll try to keep it going a little this weekend while they take a break from their long road trip.

I'll have to play around with how to post some pictures I'm open to suggestions suggestions if anyone knows the secret.
Yesterday when we arrived everyone was walking around in shorts but it won't be like that the rest of the weekend as it's only supposed to be low 50's rest of the weekend, fast fast and faster.

Almost stopped raining now only a few sprinkles left and I can hear the jet dryers workin. No updates on the schedule as of yet but one cool thing NHRA has done is you can sign up for text message updates this year. It will notify you of schedule changes and when your class is being called to the lanes.

Tentative schedule is for pros at 1:30 with sportsman to follow.

Just got another notification that stock is up at 1:30 then super stock. Kevin I got an email after I entered that gave instructions on what to do to sign up, I had to send a text with name and class code which is 13 for stock to them.

Well not much has changed, I'll give the Safety Safari alot of credit they are in full force with the driers but it continues to mist and looking at the radar some showers continue to pop up to our southwest moving northeast.
I took a little trip out but not much to see its cold and wet so everyone is shut up in their coaches.

Send a text message (not an email) to nhranotification@gmail.com. In the body put "Add (full name) and (category number)." Number 12 for super stock, 13 for stock.

Boring rain still. Shift fingers and ladder programs available racetrack discount.

Tomorrow's schedule has the sportsman getting 1 qualifier and right back around for 1st round. Won't be alot of playing the ladder this weekend but it's sure to be fast in the morning. They plan to run 3 rounds tomorrow but I really don't think an 8am start is reality as it's supposed to be low 30s tonight

Supposed to be 36 degrees at 8am, and not break into the 40s until 11am.

BUGGAR, it was 93.7 degrees (shade) on my patio today !!!
It only lasted a few hours but tonight's low is only predicted at 58, gotta love it !!
Me solar panels are kick'in *** too !!

Well time flies when your having fun and day 2 is upon us here in Charlotte. Problem is the only thing that has been down the track is the jet driers and there at it again this morning, I might go out and stand by one as its 35 degrees this morning.

Not sure how long I will be able to post as internet is slowing down and I didn't bring my little secret wifi Ms Patsy told me about. They are running super comp as we speak.

Super Stock is running now in lanes 1 and 2, I've seen quite a few with traction or starting line problems. Tom Sheehan made a hard move to the wall looked very close from where I was.

Sorry for the lack of updates but I had a problem 1st round and we have working on it. Fortunately I was very lucky 1st round and got by with one, so we still have 2 of 3 left as Greg won and Steven Rowe redlighted against Monty Bogan.
They just ran super comp and running alcohol cars now then into the pro session then it will be round 1 of Super Stock.

Well after about 4 pairs of Super Stock went down with everyone in the right lane about to crash Bryan Worner had a single in the left lane and had severe traction problems. Worner stopped on the track at the 330 to have a discussion woth an official and NHRA decided it was to dangerous to continue. Good job Bryan!
I took a few pictures that I will try to post later and we are to start off where we left off tomorrow at 10:30am.

I saw 2 commercials for the 4-wides on local Charlotte TV Friday night, and over half the commercial they were showing sportsman cars in the background instead of the pro cars - interesting and I thought effective. Lot of people down there Saturday, you could hardly walk thru the pits.

You are right about the pits today they were packed today on our side. I was pleasantly surprised that alot of people were taking pictures and asking questions about our cars.

Mrs Rowe called tonight to let us know that I was doing good on reports but it occurred to her that Ms Patsy always tells everyone about their eating arrangements for the evening.
Well we've been eating just what you would expect out of 40 something guys, Thursday night was hamburgers on the grill with adult beverages in aluminum stemware, followed by 2 nights of steaks on the grill and yes more aluminum stemware.
Not quite as glamorous as the Down South tour, where's the Hidalgo's with there low country broil when you need them?

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! This is what we all dream about being in on Sunday, in case you're just joining us that will be 1st round for most of the drivers here this weekend.
Let me tell you if you didn't come to Charlotte packing some heat you would've been in trouble. Me I woke with a frozen fresh water pump on my coach this morning.
Last night they said they would lead off today with continuation of Super Stock now it's supposed be round 2 of Stock. I get Mr Bongiovanni whom I met for the first time yesterday, very nice man. The interesting race coming up that everyone is talking about will be the heads up between Jeff Adkinson and Joel Warren in Mr Bobby's car. That should be the one to watch. My "teammate" Greg Rowe will have our ol buddy Mickey Whaley, those two can't seem to get away from each other.

Oh yeah, what started out as just a little freelance work to fill in for Ms Patsy has turned into a full-time position. Ken must've really liked my work so I can't wait to see that Christmas bonus that Jack is always talking about.
