Race car insurance?
 

It's time for me to re-new m the insurance on my trailer and Andrew's race car. My present company has sent me a bill with about a 22% increase. I would like to shop around a little. Who are you guys using? Who gets great recommendations ?

Hagarty here too Greg. 45 thou on car and 10 thou on spare motor in my garage in case house burns down ect. I just paid it... Was 400 a year

Wow! Is that all? $400.00 a year. Insurance on the trailer and car and spare parts. Everyone should consider obtaining insurance. I'm very concerned about a fire in my shop or while towing.

I use Bill Horton @ 888-901-3849 Trailer, race car and spare motor, trans covered. race car is covered except when on the track. $100,000 coverage for $1100. With all the race cars and trailers stolen last year I thought it was a good idea.

I currently use American Modern for my storage, transit and sitting in the pits. Cost is $295 a year for $45k in coverage.

I looked into coverage on the track thru Hartland Insurance Group and was amazed how cheap it was. Something like $1,000 for on track coverage. I figured it would be closer to $3-$5k per year.

It's a simple deal.. Ask Mike Cotten. He been there. Just saying don't want to find out. Ask Mike who has his insurance.

I think Bobby is exactly right, talk to someone who has had a problem & see how they feel about their car insurance ??? It's not just the price it's the coverage & how you are treated ? Good Luck, let us know who you go with ... You will hear some Unreal stories about coverage you thought you had, till you try to use it ???

There was a thread yesterday on Yellow Bullet on this issue. Couple of the guys had total losses . Some interesting reading. Hagerty got really high marks and approval. Anybody know of ones we should stay clear of ?
One guy was saying his hood flew off coming up the return road and since it happen on the road, and not actually on the track, his company paid the repairs. .

That's good to hear about Hagerty...I called them yesterday for a quote, and for $25k agreed value the premium is only $119 / year. I'm going to raise the value and also add the $125 a year for roadside assistance, which covers ALL owned vehicles! They told me the coverage is in force everywhere except "where the public is not allowed" at the track.

Hagerty has a very good reputation in the collector car market. I will call them in the morning.

Well, I called Hagerty this morning and ended up staying with Gulfways. For me Hagerty was about 20% more than Gulfways. I may of found a better source but I ran out of time.

In my research, I was suspect of "the fine line". Many insurers proclaim " You car is completely covered if it's not on the race track." Ok, I got that ..... To which I replied: so, It's covered in the pits, and staging lanes, and on the return road? Well, "kinda", I was told, As long as you're not driving it ! ( What?). - Rule of thumb - "It's covered unless the engine is running." Maybe a good argument to the sanctioning bodies for tow vehicles ? They'd love that !!! - BEWARE. - Jim-
