Re: Happy Easter Everyone
Really enjoyed the comments and the confessions of faith contained here. It's a joy to see how many share the faith and the joy surrounding the resurrection of our Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ. Some have asked me to provide an intellectual argument defending the beliefs I have. First,God is a big God. He defends Himself very well, and has long before I ever came along. Second, how do you outdo the creator of the universe? Third, the most defining thing that establishes the Lordship of Jesus is the undeniable reality of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. He destroyed the power of evil once and for all with that single act. The skeptic might ask,"Why does evil still happen"? The story isn't complete yet."Then, why do people die of awful diseases and accidents"? The story isn't over yet. "Why doesn't my race car run under the index"" Talk to your engine builder and tuner. I'll talk with the Builder of all things.
A word from the LORD recently came forth-" He said,"When they nailed my hands to that cross, it was for your sin, disease, your redemption, and your deliverance. When they drove that last nail through my feet, it also penetrated the head of the serpent. When I came off that cross, and out of that grave, walking the earth with my glorified body, that serpent was still nailed to that cross. He's not coming off any time soon. His power was broken. I succeeded in all that I accomplished for you that day, and he failed in all that he tried to accomplish, because God is greater". Wow. Don't ever forget that the cross is a completed work. It's a joy to see just how many people I run into know this everlasting truth. May the joy of the LORD be your strength!! |

Re: Happy Easter Everyone
Good synopsis Greg, I would only add a few things. The serpent knows he is defeated, his only consolation is that he wants to take others down with him. The evil existing in the world is ample evidence of that ongoing struggle. One of the best aspects of the resurrection was that early on Easter there were only a few dispirited followers and how Easter created the greatest band of witnesses who would go forth and transform the world. It's incumbent on believers to bear witness as well by living as Christ would lead us. The minds and hearts of our youth are assailed by the world, a world that would lead them astray and witnesses can help them by mentoring and living as an example they would follow. Give them a copy of the book "Unbroken" (not the movie) so they can see the power of God to overcome life's troubles or give them the "children's" Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Ultimately it boils down to the question "Who do you say Christ is?".
