Stock/super stock engine builders

As of 2015 going forward, who are the top engine builders in the USA for Stock/Super stock? This should be an interesting poll.

Re: Stock/super stock engine builders

I expect to get slammed for this, but the best engine builder should be whoever wrenched the last winner. This isn't/shouldn't be a Pro rank. Owners should be the engine builders.

Gregg Luneauk @ TriCity Perf. built the
engine in our O/SA National Record Setting
318 Wagon. He has raced several lower
classified Stock and Superstock cars.
I do not know if he has time for
any new customers as he stay pretty busy!

We do not have to Equipment or Skills to rebuild
our scooters let alone a Stock or Superstock engine
or transmission!

Arrow Racing Engines in Detroit - best V10 MOPARS in the world - their engines powered the truck to the Baja off road 1000 mile championship.

Definitely Gregg Luneack at Tri City. Yes, he's a busy guy, but he's worth it all. I've been very happy with the work I've purchased there.

I'm sure most will just claim their own engine builder.

So my vote is Jeremy Allen with InlinePRO. 😀

There are lots of good builders : Rowe Racing, Parsons/Meyers , Bub ,Tilburg,
Boucher, etc. I think it depends on your engine combo & location ...

Jeff Taylor would have to be right up there with the best of them. Marion Stevenson has been flying with the 305 built by Jeff.

Allen Sherman at Trumble Racing Engines. Check out Jarrod Granier et in SS/F and Kent in AH to name a few. If I ever get my car together again well see what my Trumble 283 can do.

I agree with Dave, your combo and location have alot to do with it. Right here in my area is Warren and ofcourse my guys at Rowe and lets not forget Randy Daniels. These guys have forgotten more than I will ever learn probably.

"I like my guy" oh yeah, "I like my guy"....really?

Just name the thread "popularity contest" and be done of it.

If you want an excellent engine builder, there are lots out there (obviously, look how this thread is going), just ask advise on who builds what you're running, pick one, that's the best one for you. (unless money is no object and you're willing to ship an engine across the continent to have mr A or mr B on your fender)

Tony and the guys at BES Racing Engines are awesome :). They did the engines for both our LT1 and 6.1L Hemi, and now they are putting together the motor for our SS/AH car. Both of the stockers fly, so we are looking forward to seeing what the AH car will do with Bischoff power. BES has also given us lots of support and suggestions to improve performance even after the engines were in the cars. Their customer service is excellent.

Re: Stock/super stock engine builders

I haven't seen Patterson's name yet, builds some bad- fast engines, I am currently having Bret Voges do the super stock engine, Parson/Meyers do the stocker engine happy with both, not conveniently located to Crosby Tx but that's my problem I choose to live down south.

Re: Stock/super stock engine builders

How many west coast guys do east coast motors. When I walk into Tilburgs shop I see shipping boxes from all over the country not just east coast. Plenty of them getting freshened or built. Lot's of fast, reliable, legal stock and super stock motors at the track just look at the "Q" sheet. Now granted mostly SBC but some good BBC also. SO I would say my vote is Tilburg.

I think it definitely depends on the particular combination, how fast you want to go, and how much money you have.

This!

There are lots of factors involved such as who builds the cylinder heads and camshaft selection to make a specific combination go fast. There are many builders that specialize in particular makes; they can make one make go fast, however, they are not as successful getting the same results with other makes.

Now that he is not too busy with contract obligations, I am going to get him to freshen up and trick out my 273 U/SA. I know that he is familiar with Mopars, though they may be of higher cubic inch displacement, he is more than qualified. Plus, it would be a boost to Stock Eliminator in general. He is probably one of the best around and will take his time to get it right. Looking forward to next year when it's done. See ya all at the races.
