Re: Frank Sanders
Boy do I remember that car. Picture was taken on the starting line at Beeline.
One of Jim Rodgers (Mgr/Promoter of Beeline) 'Match Races' was this car in a two out of three against one of the 'Howard Cam' dragsters, the 'Unbearable' as I recall. The Howard Cam car was staged on the line and Sanders launched out of the hot car staging area with a head start. When Sanders was even with the starting line the Dragster left. I don't remember who won but it was entertaining. I saw this Plymouth run many times in the Phoenix area. Great picture! Thanks for the memory jogger. |
Re: Frank Sanders

Daryl, From what I got, ''Town & Country Plymouth' was the 'big' Southwest Plymouth Performance Dealer in the 1960's. Yes, they did order a BO29, and it was shipped to them in March 1968. But, when it got there [on a high-bed Dodge Hauler}, they had an issue when taking the car off the Hauler. The BO29 was rolled off the truck. But it went to ground hard, when the right side Ramp support-rails 'let go', and the Barracuda crashed on it's back right side. The quarter-panel was buckled, as well as the trunk area, and the rear glass panel popped out, as the 'B-Pillar' also buckled. But even worse, the right-rear frame-rail was bent upwards. The Barracuda was put back on the Dodge Hauler, and sent back to Eleven Mile Road. But, 'Town & Country' cancelled the replacement BO29 order, as Chrysler Performance would not give them a 'free replacement' BO29. Paul |
Re: Frank Sanders
Thanx for that Paul. There's a guy I've met in the Arizona area who's been looking for info on a BO29. He's thinking there might be a connection between it & Town & Country Plymouth.
