"Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Just pulled in from Detroit area at 3:00 local time to a long line of haulers that weaves along the side of the circle track. The line is moving but it's gonna be a while till I get in. Stay tuned for reports from inside. Looks like a good WiFI signal - so far.

Good luck y'all! I'm heading south to Tennessee where Edmond Richardson and the Boyz are putting on a big money bottom-bulb race.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
The line of rigs parked at the circle track cleared after 5:00. The asphalt pits filled quickly with lots of space reserved for yet to arrive Comp and Alcohol cars. The grass pits are filling steadily. The latest forecasts look better for Friday with no rain. Sunday looks like it could be a problem with 100% chance. The signal is strong at the track so updates should be easy.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Good morning. We have a beautiful day here in Chicago Land with great weather today. Cool temps this morning and what looks like good air. But there is a strong cross/head wind that may wipe that out. Super Street started off and about 10 pair went down and we stopped. Some issues with the timing system. A couple of photos in the meantime.

The track is changing out the timing system in hopes of of solving the gremlins.
With the threat of severe weather on Sunday we have been notified that the race may be finished tomorrow. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psegjmzndk.jpg Porta-Tree has its text service here. I signed up. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ps3f8w1kif.jpg |

11:23 and we are still down.

Well that's great, really hate it when the tracks broken, that and looks like Sundays weather could be an issue. Good luck to all in attendance.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Stock got Q1 done. It's 3:20 and S/S is getting its first run. One more run for both after 5:00.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Schedule update for Saturday; all classes get 1 time/qualiting run and then all classes go to round 1. And start time is moved up to 9:00 am.
It's about 7:30 and we are just about ready to go to the second Qualifying run. |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
I left the track about 9:15 and S/S was just being called to the lanes. The second round of Stock should be quicker for most since the temp dropped from the mid 70s to 60 degrees. Here are the top of the QSheets after the first run.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
100% chance of severe weather Sunday...
Let's give everyone a third time run Saturday morning that no one needs and draw it out even more...does anyone understand this decision because it makes no sense to me |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Good morning. Another beautiful day here in Chicagoland. The barometer is up from yesterday and the blustery winds from yesterday have moderated. Should be a little quicker for Q3 this morning
An ambitious schedule for today with the possibility of finishing it all before the rain hits tomorrow. The forecast this morning shows the heaviest rain south of the track - but it still looks like a Washout day here. |

Perhaps as a nicety for those in the NHRA world who still have day jobs and cant take off every other Wednesday-Sunday.. Give the working people a chance to drive all night Friday and show up for one hit Saturday morning and at least stay involved at the divisional level? |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Stock Q3 is done. At this pace we should be going to eliminations sometime after noon.
A couple of photos. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...pstocssftf.jpg Lynn Smiths 73 Buick Regal 455. I think this has to be the only 73 Regal running in Stock today. My parents had the exact same color but with the 350 http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...pshgilyr49.jpg Al Wicks Cuda - some of you older readers will remember his Father Jim Wick who ran Chrysler S/S cars and Pro Stockers in the 60s and 70s. Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Round 1 of stock is complete. A number of breakouts- maybe due to the headwind that died. The temp was 61 at 8:00 this morning and now at 1:30 it's up into the 80s. A good crowd is here already here and more coming in for the "Showdown" this evening
Round 2 is scheduled for 5:00 after the Alcohol cars, jets and wheel standers make their first run. And round 3 sometime after that. |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Racing is progressing with no issues ( my fingers are crossed ). S/S has just been called to the lanes for round 1.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
A quick update at 7:30 Chicago time. Round 2 of Stock is done. S/S will be heading up in about 30-45 minutes for round 2. We are scheduled for at least 1 more round. I have not heard how late they will run tonite - this place has lights.
As the sun is starting to set it has cooled off. |

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
They still running?
Too bad they don't allow that Baldwin/Motion Camaro to run a dual quad tunnel rammed 454 in Stock. The late model cars get away with some pretty bogus stuff and since the floodgates are open a Mr Norm 440 SixPack Dart, 454 Motion Vega or the 65 Mustang 427 SOHC AFX cars should be fair game. They did sell them that way. |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
ANY reports from Joliet??? they been running at all nothing since Friday nite- nothing as usual on DRC--had to work all weekend so I am not there--- National Dragster will have all of the Div 3 results next week (LOL)FED 387

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Yep still running at 10:25 pm. A Top Sportsman car just lost it so we will be down for a while. Top alcohol classes have been called and the fans have been promised that the Jets will run at or about 11:00.
How much longer???? It's getting late. |

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
on the way home I was watching D3TV from Rt 66, they got another round in for SST, Stock & SG and sent everyone packing back to the pits before the rain came in, looks like it will be a long day, kind of glad we lost early now.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Sorry for the information blackout. And here is the story. A major weather front- dark clouds were quickly moving in. I made my run at 8:15 - returned quickly to my trailer and loaded - and it was raining by 8:30. Within 5 minutes it was a monsoon and I was outta there. I drove through heavy rail from the track and well into Michigan before it slowed to a slow drizzle.
The weather and conditions were tricky this morning - barometer had dropped from 29.30 yesterday to 29.13 at 8:00. And the wind had moved from a head wind to a cross wind. It was quicker than expected. With the exception of the 4 hours lost on Friday with the timing system snafu, the racing was issue-free until that TS car went on its roof last night about 10:30. Rt. 66 is a great facility. The hook was there all weekend with very little work necessary to keep it there. |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
JOLIET, Ill. - 11:35 a.m. - The remainder of the Burndown at Sundown event has been postponed.
A major factor in the decision to postpone is forecasts calling for severe weather later this afternoon, around the time track drying would be completed and the track would be ready to resume racing. Details of the rescheduling will be published on the Division 3 website. So far, here's what it looks like: The Top Alcohol finals will be run at the national event at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park July 2-5; most of the Sportsman competition will be completed at the Division 3 event at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, July 24-26; the Pro Fuel Harley finals and the Snowmobile finals will be run at their next event. All of the completed rounds of competition have already been posted on Drag Race Central. |

A few quick images from Joliet. (Sorry Patsy hasn't schooled me on how to post yet names near images yet!)
The starting line scrape detail crew early Saturday Bruce Gibson's cool Demon Bobby Bishop and Bobby Gere Q3 Your reporter event Mike Delahanty and MJ Quinn Q3 Gary Merrick and Joe Martens E1 And Mike Delahanty again, in the tunnel E1 I took a picture of Mike and his car with his camera to post, guess it was too bad to! Had a real nice chat with the staging lane crew during the late night Top Sportsman crash clean up. Pretty sure it was one of these cars. Would have been nice to finish it all on Saturday, safe travels to those heading to Ohio. |
Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
orange car near lane Bob, looks to me either it got away from him or tapped the breaks on big end but still went 199 mph, so who knows. Could been a mechanical failure of some kind, made a hard right into wall right at finish line, then across the track.

Re: "Live" from Division 3 RT. 66 LODRS
Brian Brown is the driver of the TS car. The instant he got off the throttle the car went hard right into wall . He's driven that car along time ,was owned by Greg Hill of Indicom electric but was purchased by another guy that kept Brian at the wheel. He walked away unhurt ,testimony to a well built car. There tearing the car down to determine what happen for sure.
