2016 Drag Pak
Looks like the fastest Mustangs and Camaros will have some more competition! Love the '71 styling. But I continue to have mixed emotions about the old classification debate.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
you need one of these Myron.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
You order one yet Myron?
Even a hardcore Pontiac/Chevy guy like me would drive one of these! :) Ken Stock 412 |
Re: 2016 Drag Pak
I've always thought Chrysler did the best job on the retro cars. And in their own classes where they belong, the factory race cars are good.
|
Re: 2016 Drag Pak
Get one? I can barely afford to keep what I got going! Too many cars will be in the same classes to get into a financial HP war. As for driving, I hate to sound like a wuss, but I'd probably do better with an earlier version with a 5.9. Just being realistic.:( But I look forward to seeing these beat up on the other brands.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
thats a good looking car. The interior is very nicely done.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
I hope that we're looking at the future of Pro Stock.

Not that I think Pro Stock as it currently exists is a healthy class. It isn't. |

Same car with updated rear & front plastics, interior, and the new shootout combos?

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
Not bad, but not really workable. Rules that require teardown to enforce, and the ability of the factories to game the system. Neither of which will be popular. NHRA is not going to want to tear them down, and competitors are not going to like the idea of being obsolete every time one of the other companies decides to make a move. Not sure 360 cubic inches and a minimum weight as you propose will result in an ET/MPH that's going to please the average crowd (we're not the average crowd) either.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
Nice car, as is all the new stuff. I am just surprised no one has come out with a turbo combination because it would make those blower cars slow overnight. :rolleyes:Blowers are not the in thing in any other form of drag racing right now. Turbo lag = the point in time you think you had a chance.:D

Thanks, I wouldn't have it any other way, especially since they were my idea. They are available to anyone. But too bad Holeshot doesn't have the wheel contract, even if the pentastar isn't an obvious Chrysler symbol anymore. |

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
Billy,Nees, You are correct. One wt break, heads up but I do not like the fiberglass parts comments. Just another comp car, Pro Stock or Top Sportsman car.
As for any Turbo or Supercharger in a Stock or SS class they only are for one thing.... To confuse the factoring methods even more. Carbs versus Injection is bad enough and very successful confusion of factors... Yes to the idea of replacing Current Pro Stocks with factory appearing Factory Stock cars. |
Re: 2016 Drag Pak
If you're going to try it, naturally aspirated, two valves per cylinder, cam in block, 440 cubic inch maximum, 400 cubic inch minimum, maximum of two 1000 CFM approved throttle bodies, flat top pistons, maximum 5 forward speeds, back half only, 16"x33" slick, fiberglass hood, with a 6" scoop, 3200# with driver, although 3000#, or even 2800# with driver would be better, if you can get there.
I don't think they'll be fast enough to please the crowds, I don't think NHRA will like it, and I think the whole thing will be out of control in two years or less. |

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
You know, an innovative person can finance these if you are a little creative. I am a car dealer first and a banker second. I have helped a couple of people finance these things. The key is they are identifiable by serial # even they have no title. Banks do it daily, use a UCC filing to record your interest in anything identifiable. In many states boats don't have titles, but have serial numbers. Now if you got a beacon score that won't stand a look, your local banker might not help. There is no national across the board program, but your local guy with everything else ok should be able to do it. Kevin and I were in Detroit for the last three days. Impressive cars, fast, going through tests now, Kevin drove one of them. They will both be in Denver. More as it unfolds. Lot of details available, but not here.

Re: 2016 Drag Pak
I think if you can't afford to buy it outright, you may be better off with something less. $100 K isn't that much money anymore.
|
Re: 2016 Drag Pak
Well if they can run good here in Denver they will run good anywhere.
Nothing like 10k DA at the Mile High Nats! :D Wish I was not sidelined for the race. |
