Good morning members and guests - the plan was to be at NED this morning early but once again work got into the way and at this very moment I'm typing this from a Walmart parking lot somewhere in Conneticut .Plans call to arrive late morning- early enough to get parked-teched and bring you all the latest from todays' test n tune session .

For those interested its a brite and sunny morning with temps in the fifties with no rain in sight .
For those racers and fans planning to hit the road today my advise is to be very , very careful in New Hampshire- as of July 1 there is a new law there that has super stiff fines for texting / talking on your cell while driving and I'm told they are serious about this issue and like their new source of revenue .

Back a little later when I'm really 'live'...............

Coming from the South take care on the bridges with BUMP signs on 495...50 miles and closer to the track....Also going home 495 South. Especially for the stacker guys. They will move your stuff around. Pretty much every bridge or over pass is suspect. Even knowing it didn't save my dakota's mirror.

Be sure to stop by the Annual Junior Dragster fundraiser on Saturday afternoon behind the tower.

The kids will be raising money for Veterans Count! a subsidiary of Easter Seals. Veterans Count provides financial assistance and services to Veterans and their families.

After a very sunny afternoon here at NED test n tune is over with everyone in agreement that the track was very good but the weather wasn't fast .

Tommorow morning we'll be out on what I consider to be a great track surface and hopefully better weather conditions .

Those traveling North on I-84 to the Mass Turnpike in Sturbridge (I-90) East,
GPS may suggest to get off at Exit 10 (I-290) in Auburn MA. to get to I-495 North.

Remain on I-90 East and take Exit 11A in Westboro MA to I-495 North.

The Bridge Reconstruction in Worcester will KO the fillings in your teeth!

No trip to New Hampshire would be complete without a trip to the coast and a fresh 'lobsta' meal and this year was no exception .Thanks to my friend Bill Shurla we got to eat some really fine seafood and take in the local scenery .

Good morning kids - And Brrrrrrrrrrr - talk about a chilly night ! ! During last evening it got downright cold and the furnace was brought back into service once again even though its July .But this morning its once again very pretty and we should have a nice day to start this race out this morning.I'd be glad to give you weather numbers but since the station is still out in the trailer that will have to wait a bit ( ain't getting old and forgetful grand ).

Ok- One might think i've been slacking today but its been nothing but busy for me all day .Trouble is most of it had nothing to do with ClassRacer.com and the boss will probably dock me for sure .It all started with me having a bad run first thing this morning - then it was about a promise I made to Chris Barnes ( Wheels-up photos/radio etc ) helping him with kids he was bringing today by bus from the local Boys and Girls club - all 55 of them plus chaperones .It went well with them and all spent the day here at the track and went home happy ! ! Then the second run I spun bigtime and before I knew it my day went right into the toilet .

I can try again tomorrow .........But the kids -- well, lets just say it was worth it ! ! !

Thank you Jack for all of your hard work.. The kids had a great time and enjoyed going home with some treats... Great job and its people like you that make doing this stuff worth while.

Good morning gang - The start time this AM was to be 9 but the pitter-patter on my roof says its going to be much later if at all this morning .Its relatively warm with the temps in the mid sixties but as you expected the humidity is thru the roof .

In the would you believe it dept.- McDonalds in this part of the country sells lobster rolls -$7.95 each ..............Hmmmm

Yeah - its a slow news morning - back a little later with updates .Breakfast then back to bed for awhile ..................

8:30 update -Instead of slowing up the rain has increased and is coming down as they say in buckets .Wish we had a car as this is turning out to be a great casino day .........

Well here's the thing - if you thought you'd be reading about what's happening at the track this morning you're dead wrong - the pictures you'll be seeing are about my bucket list - and cross off one line .Neat deal for sure and i'd do it again ..............And more Ken will dock me for - goofing off on the job ! !

Back to work - a new feature is to spotlight a different race car at each event and this race its Elroy Dames' sharp 69 Road Runner C/SA .Stop and see it at the next event - well worth your time ..............

After all the rain and the hoopla they are now doing jr.dragsters and trying to give everyone a final qualifier before having first rounds of all the classes except SuperGas (and Comp) which only has 32 cars .And did I mention it looks like it will 'make down' any second ?

Thru some act of God we got first round of Stock in and now the Sun just came out .Most racers slowed between .05 and .08 as the humidity and vp were thru the roof and the traction was just so-so even with the cloud cover .S/S should be out in the next hour and Stock is to have another round tonight - maybe around 9pm or so .

Back after I have dinner ........and some of that apple crisp they're selling on the midway .

Yep - its late - they just called S/S to the lanes .Rd 2 of Stock cancelled .No round 1 of SuperGas ,Comp ,SuperStreet .Tomorrow mid afternoon call for very bad conditions ......


PS- should be real fun dialing tonight as the rooftops of cars are already dripping wet ! ! !

While strolling thru the lanes yesterday I was reminded of a time many from Division 1 will remember - right from the seventies and Raceway Park in New Jersey .Anyone know what became of Ed Hamburger and his company ? ? ?

From what I heard and I live 5 mins from SLP in tomsriver part of the company was sold to roush part they still own. I think Ed lives in colorado.

I did a lot of towing work for slp when the new camaros came out. they sold off the parts dep to roush a few years ago. i went by last week and looked like the sign was down

Love your idea of doing your own "Featured Flyers" coverage. My buddy, Evan Smith, doesn't believe me when I told him many years ago, I wrote a letter to NHRA suggesting a column that highlighted sportsman racers across the country who might not make the National Dragster every other week like some do. About 6 months later the Featured Flyers Column was started in National Dragster and has progressively gotten better. Of course I did not get any credit for my suggestion from NHRA, but that's ok. I know it was MY idea! That Road Runner you covered was an excellent "kick off" subject!! Don't know how you manage to race and do your coverage for the guys at home, but thanks.
