I will have more information coming soon, in regards to payouts, hotels, local restaurants, and other info.

This will be the twenty-first straight year I have gone to this race; the first year as a fan, and have been involved in some capacity with putting it on every year since. Always a great weekend, and way to wrap up the season. For those who have never been there and wondered how far it is, it is an hour from Breezewood PA (where I-70 east and the PA Turnpike split). Weather is usually pretty decent. I've been there when the temps were in the low eighties and we wore shorts; we have had races where 45-48 was the high. Last year was sunny and about 48-50 degrees. But, despite the chilly air, and below-sea-level air, the track was GREAT (they use the good stuff to prep the track). Augustus Adkins ran 8.805 @ 152 in his SS/B '69 AMX, and Paul Roderick was runner-up in his AAA/SA '13 CobraJet, with every run in the 8.80's, on nine-inch tires.

Equaling our biggest ever car counts, the payouts would be:
Saturday $50 race, 41 cars
3rd round loser - $50
4th round - 100
5th round - 250
Runner-up - 500
Winner - 900

Sunday, $100 race $2K to win, 63 cars
3rd round loser - 100
4th round loser - 200
5th round loser - 500
Runner-up - 1,350
Winner - 2,600

We usually get some money kicked into each races' purse from some friends, so those payouts will increase if so this year as well (we paid 1,000 win/500 R/U in the $50 race in 2013 with the same round money listed above). The payouts listed only count the current sponsor money + car count.

Any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Some more information:

Track radio station: 89.9 FM

If any racers want to be there Saturday, but not test or race, it's $10 spectator fee. Parking is 24/7 and will be open throughout the week (we had several racers arrive Thursday last year). Pit parking is open, very few, if any, reserved spots so you may park anywhere, on either side. Tech is done on the right-side/west side of the track, in the second row of pits; you will see the little building with Tech on it. The main staging lanes are also on the right-side of the track.

Bye runs DO NOT have to be made (no taking the Tree, breaking the beam, etc). You may return to the pits and wait for next round; if it's late in the rounds, you may sit in the lanes and wait for the next round. You may bring all needed things to the lanes (water, fuel, generator, battery charger, etc). This rule came about for the TSSSSA about ten years ago, while at H-town. They were down to three cars in Super Pro. The first pair ran, and there was smoke on the top end. They shut the bye-run car off in the water to check out the track. After a few minutes, they gave the all-clear to resume racing. The bye car would not start, so he lost on the bye to the final. I thought it was silly to lose on a bye run, so the rule was changed for the following year for our series that a bye run car did not have to take the tree/break the beam to be a round winner.

Saturday night Racer Dinner: The name of the place is Hard Times Café. It's across from the Crazy Horse that we have gone to many times in the past. The address is 1705 Massey Blvd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Payouts will be at the timeslip booth both days. The timeslip booth at H-town is on the return road, back near the starting line. Mom and/or Dad will be there. The finalists are cordially invited for winners circle pictures (and payouts) both days. The winners circle is behind the water box, where you turn out of the lanes to go to the waterbox.

One of our favorite races of the year!! The track crew are always very welcoming and the track itself always has great hook. If you have never been to this race you should check it out.
We'll be there Friday afternoon sampling Jeffersons,Bookers, and Buffalo Trace bourbon....life is good. Lots of great food and good bourbon with some racing thrown in there somewhere.

Thank you, Patrick.

Last year, the track fuel guy had VP. I got C-12 there. Good price if you have your own can. I would call the track to make sure. By the way, I'll be there with my Crew Chief(s) so add me to the roll call list. I think this is at least my tenth in a row. Great event, great hook, great track personel, great organizer and great announcer! What else could you ask for?

S/SS will be quarter-mile; bracket classes will be eighth-mile.

We had forty-six cars on property today; forty-two raced. Michael Wood N/SS was the winner over Dan Fahey F/PS. Semi was Augustus Adkins SS/B; 1/4-finals were Matt Butter G/SA, Brad Huntzberry GT/DA and Steve Klacik H/PS. More are expected tomorrow,

Great day today at Hagerstown for the final day of The Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic. Fifty-eight cars were here today, all raced. When all was done, Keith Bowman wheeled his N/SS '67 Dodge to the win, defeating defending event winner Kyle Huntzberry's SS/JA '69 Camaro. Semifinals were Roger Reese and Dan Henderson. Quarterfinalists were Aris Asdourian, Steve Klacik, Herbie Null and Glen Myers. A huge thank you to all who came out this weekend; we had a total of sixty-four cars for the weekend, and paid a total of $3,350 to win, without money splits. Thank you to all, and we hope to see you all next year at our Tri-State Stock/Super Stock Association events !

A big thanks to all that participated in our 2 day Stock / S/S event. Mike Carr and his mom and dad did a great job of organizing and running the event, very nice turnout. Great driving by all. I can tell you that all our staff look forward to the class cars coming to our track every November. It was also nice talking with the many racers I don't get to see very often, Michael Beard, Lee Valentine, Vic Guilmino and others to name a few. It's amazing how long some of you have been racing class cars, many since way before the brackets came into being. A couple of you I sent down the track over 50 years ago, were did the time go?? Again, have a great off season and hope to see you all again next year!

Re: The Annual Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic Oct 31-Nov 1

Thanks to you Mike, Elmer, and the entire Mason-Dixon Dragway staff !

Awards from the weekend:

~Long Distance Tow Award: John Kurzenberger, who, for the third year in a row, made the tow up from Soddy Daisy Tennessee.

~Best first round reaction time Saturday ($75): Matt Butter with a .000 light. Thanks to Chris Barnes of WheelzUp Radio and Rob Jackson of RobzNeed4Speed Videos for posting the award.

~Best Appearing Car(s): Larry Mohar SS/JA on Saturday and Danny Henderson B/SA on Sunday. Thank you to Kevin Clark for posting the awards for the weekend.

There were sixty-four total S/SS cars for the weekend, from eight different states (OH, WV, PA, NY, MD, VA, DE and TN) plus Canada (Chris VanBaalen driving Dan Bellany's Crate Motor Stocker; Dan was also at our two Pittsburgh races in September).

This was the largest Saturday I have ever seen in twenty-one years of going to this race. One hundred seventy-five (175) test and tune tech cards were purchased, plus there were forty-eight S/SS cars (223 total). It was a congestion early on, with everyone in every staging lane; after a while, they put S/SS in lanes 1-2, which was much better.

Also, a huge thank you to Ronnie Dicks, who came down Sunday to watch and support us, and volunteered to help pair cars up in the lanes Sunday. Thank you, Ronnie, I really do appreciate it.

The weather was pretty nice all weekend, and warmer than average. Sunny and upper fifties on Sunday; sun/clouds and in the sixties on Sunday. A brief, light shower Sunday was over by 7:30 or 8:00 am, and the track crew were drying shortly after, and big cars were on the track at 12:10 pm (only ten minutes later than scheduled).

Congrats to the weekend's race winners. Michael Wood drove his Iron Soldier '67 Dodge to the Saturday win; his third of the year and clinched the Tri-State S/SS Association Championship, defeating Dan Fahey's F/PS '95 Impala SS. Michael took home a thousand dollars for the win; Dan $500 for R/U. Keith Bowman was the Sunday winner, also in a '67 Dodge. He defeated last years winner Kyle Huntzberry in his SS/JA '69 Camaro. The race was to pay $2,350 win/$1,200 R/U, but they elected to run for $100, so it paid $1,825 and $1,725.

Thank you again to everyone who came out, and we will see you at The Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic next year !

Amen to that! I'm shifting my focus from NHRA to the Tri-State S/SS and Buckeye S/SS Series and big money bracket racing next year. NHRA's arbitrary and unreasonable rules have gone too far, and the local series provide a better value.
