S/SS Nat Champs

Who's your predictions for this years national champs ?

Another Friendly Racer 10-21-2015 01:48 PM

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

It's probably going to be Helms in stock, who could improve on a 3rd rounder and put the nail in the coffin at the vegas divisional. If he doesn't improve, Defrank could get to the final round at the last divisional and pass him. Defrank could also pass him with a few scenarios that include going deep at both the divisional and one of the remaining nationals. Allison Smyth is mathematically alive, bout would require one heck of a close to the racing season. She would need to win the remaining 3 events or just about win each.

In SS, Zasko can't improve. Lamb could pass Zasko with a 5th round showing at the divisional. Nick Morris might be the favorite and could take the lead with a semi showing at either the remaining 2 nationals, or go deep at both the last divisional and a remaining national. David Rampy could pass Zasko with a final round showing at the Vegas divisional. Unruh and Defrank could take the lead, but both would have to go very deep at both the remaining divisional and a national. Mark Faul is still alive but holding on by a string. So is Jeff Roell.

Lunch break is over...

Didn't realize that in SS it was still going I figured that Brad had it wrapped up

How many free rounds will be given?????? Looks like it has already started. Happens every year, some get grilled for it and some are just Hero's. Let the games begin....

Interesting comment Mr. Ruler. I am curious as to where it has already started. Usually, the shenanigans don't start till Vegas.

Well check rd.2 at Dallas.... any other time everybody would be crying foul...Or it was just ... well we can speculate. I was not there but it doesn't look right does it??

A very astute observation on your part Mr. Ruler.

It would appear that way but I don't think you know as much as you think. I guess DRC didn't report Mr Teuton's hood flew off at the finish line the round before destroying it. In case you're not familiar with Stock rules, they won't let you race without a hood.

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

I can say this with certainty, the last two years I didn't receive a single unjust round and passed a tear down both years at Noble.

Something I am very proud of.

The blue challenger lost a hood, not the pink one. But I don't blame them, team cars is a little different than diving in my opinion.

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

I wonder if anyone got a picture of the hood flying. It apparently went very high. Where is Spike when you need him?

I guess I'm the dumb ### now and you're right I don't blame them one bit.

Jeff if I was a duck hunter I would have shot the hood, when it flew up. LOL.. Pulling for Kevin. Great seeing everyone at Dallas

Mr Jeff,I wasn't there but was listening to the audio cast at the time of the launch and he got very excited and was saying as high as the ET "scoreboards". I'm not sure if he was embellishing the height or not. But that was what he said.

I guess after the hood wen't flying off of big blue. jeff did not have enough time to clean out his fire pants.that is why he did not run the pink car.just saying!!!! that is my story and I am sticking to it. S.P. go Kevin. FYI I am often asked why Jeff called his blue Challinger BIG BLUE!!!! well that car was named after his Famous Mud Racing Truck that was unbeaten!!! and yes it was a BIG BLUE DODGE TRUCK Driven by a big Man.

OK Boys. Here is the deal. I own all three cars in question. And it was way too early in the morning to race. But Really, my team will do what it takes. This far into the season you do what you gotta do. And the fun has just started. I will have to invoke the Chuckey Rayburn rule; if you ain't in the top ten, you don't have a vote. Wait till Las Vegas and then we can get this thing souped up. From the tower; the hood was way above the scoreboards. I need a picture. Brannon, you could not hit a hood with a blunderbuss, so I know you can't hit a duck. I love it when a plan comes together. The other Chuck Rayburn rule goes like this here; If you don't have a car or haven't raced in two years or more; you don't have a vote. Now Chuck Rayburn rules are totally Politically Incorrect by today's standards. But Chuck is Politically Incorrect for any standard. He is in charge, so whatever he says in Vegas in law.

Sounds like Chuck's got it right...a Gil Favor kind of guy (ref your post on the 'live' thread)

Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though they're disapprovin'
Keep them doggies movin', rawhide
Don't try to understand 'em
Just rope, throw an' brand 'em
Soon we'll be livin' high an' wide

I told Jeff that we should just race to avoid this very thread, and he asked me if he still owns all this stuff.............And as far as Tear downs, Our Southland Dodge Cars, mainly my Red car, (4 times)has been tore down at INDY 5 times in 4 years. Yes the math is correct. One year we had two in the barn at one time. As a matter of fact, the engine in the Red car is the same one I tore down at INDY last year. Shes getting a little tired with all the runs this year. Hope this helps.

Jeff,
I accept your generous offer of law maker for the Las Vegas race. The first law is for you. You and Sherman will trade cars and we will see which car can run the fastest and quickest all out for class. No "gentleman's agreement" allowed. Based on both of your 1000' ets in the "mineshaft conditions" at Indy, you both are 200 lbs. too light for B/SA. In the interest of "fairness" for your fellow B/SA racers, you both shouldn't have a problem deliberately giving yourselves the weight you both deserve.
Its either this or both of you have to wear a bumper sticker that says, "I'm not fast, I'm in the wrong class!" Its all about "fairness" and not discouraging your fellow B/SA racers. I know you are a "fair" man...don't let me down. <lol>

I'll go you one better, if you can get nhra to allow it for this one race I'll gladly put my corvette at the AA/SA minimum that a ls1 camaro or firebird would have to be which is 3025# and we can run for class in vegas. Being that I know how fast I am, and that I have been running my car at 3270# I'm more than willing to take my chances, you fellas just let me know so I can bring my cutting torch with me to get all this weight out...lol

Jeff what the hell is a blunderbuss? Just saying. Had fun in Dallas

Jeff Teuton 10-23-2015 11:54 PM

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

Chuckey, I think I ran a 47 second or something against J. Allen. OK let's get started. Swapping cars? Chuck, have you looked at a Vette, and looked at my girth, age, and several other body parts, and I can't get a leg in that thing. And there are no cranes on site incase I get strattled in that thing. Second, 200 too light. OK, I will take 50 out to be 200 overweight. And Chuckey, don't you run AA. That is several away from me. So by the Chuckey Rule, you got no vote.

So with Vegas national over where is everyone in SS now

In stock it's still Helms or Defrank. In super stock Morris got his semi appearance to take the lead. Rampy can still win it and so can Lamb. This one will likely be undecided heading into Pomona.

Rampy and Lamb can only claim the divisional so SS will most likely be decided this weekend, if one of them does pass Morris he can still claim Pomona to get it back.

Don't fprget Mark Faul has 130 pts available over 2 races 65 ea. could total 629 would have to win both.Justin @ home track with 64 pts available Rampy neeeds final rd showing this weekend Morris has 44 pts available at each race makes for an interesting weekend

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

Big first round matchup Lamb vs Morris. Last chance for Lamb Morris can take big step to championship

tim worner 11-09-2015 11:59 AM

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

Clutch driving from Lamb to take the lead. Morris must go to final to get it back.

Kevin McKenna 11-09-2015 12:24 PM

Re: S/SS Nat Champs

Actually, I believe Nick Morris can win the title by reaching the semifinals. If there are more than 64 cars he will win it outright. With less than 64 cars, he will tie Lamb with a semi. Haven't looked yet to see who'd win the tie-breaker.

In Stock the math is fairly simple. Jimmy DeFrank wins the race, he's the champ. If not, Kevin Helms gets his fourth title. Anyone else love to see these two heavyweights race in the final?

Super Comp and Super Gas also to be decided and Mike Shannon can still win both of them. Always love the drama surrounding the Vegas, Vegas, Pomona fall swing.

Lamb holds tie breaker head to head he won first round over Morris @ Vegas
