Gas Prices

Since gas prices are dropping pretty good, even if it seems everywhere but Pa. I was wondering if the prices stay down or drop lower next year how does that effect your racing schedule? Are people making their plans now? Anyone adding another car to race based on fuel prices? I am not a racer so was just interested.

Re: Gas Prices

Skills, I think if someone is going to go from running one car to two, a thousand or two in gas won't change that. However, for the bulk of us that run one car, lower gas prices could add up to a few more races. Making plans for next year on based on November gas & oil prices is tough given the political unrest in the world. Oil could be $38.00 a barrel in the spring or $138.00. My 2 cents. J.R.

I'm in Pa most every weekend and gas prices have dropped there too.

Cheaper gas means more travel/road trips whether yu are a racer or not.

Re: Gas Prices

I don't think it is reasonable to suggest oil may be $138 come spring. You probably won't see oil above $100 per barrel for many, many years now that opec can't artificially adjust the price since they no longer control enough of the supply percentage to do so. Many top oil ceo's outline that they are preparing for another 25% drop off.

Re: Gas Prices

There is a down side to the lower gas/diesel prices.

Over 250,000 layoffs in the oil and gas industry thus far in 2015, with predictions that the total number will be 500,000 total layoffs within the next 6 months.

http://www.theoilandgasyear.com/news...since-january/

Each of those US jobs result in a net reduction in tax revenue of about $20k (including the taxes that their employer was paying).

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Someone (the remaining employed, who are not in the 160,000,000 US citizens getting government assistance) will have to catch up their slack and:

1) Pay the taxes lost by these now unemployed (and the tax revenue not paid by their former employers).
2) Pay unemployment benefits to those who lost their jobs.

There is no free lunch.

I am not a Economist............However, the $500.00 to $1000.00 we save in our business from gas prices goes right into what we spend every month as we sure do not save much at all.

I remember from college econ that their is a "Multiplier Effect" probably five times. The person I spend the money with will spend it with somebody else
and so on down the line. This keeps expanding our economy!

I believe those laid off oil workers are probably working in other places, not just sitting around waiting.

Re: Gas Prices

Gas is $1.76 a gallon & diesel is $2.18 here in Parker CO

Will the lower prices help me travel more or less?? My motorhome gets
7 MPG, lower prices help, but we will travel when we want to.

When we lived in SOCAL and diesel was $5.00 a gallon we still traveled,
maybe not as far as we might have liked.

Gas in Beautiful British Columbia this morning is $1.18 CDN per litre, which equates to $4.57CDN per U.S. Gallon (after conversion) or with the current money exchange rate $3.42US per U.S. gallon. A price reduction generally means an increase the following week.

Re: Gas Prices

Yeah the laid off oil patch workers are working somewhere else but the people we hired are at about 50% of what they were making. Some traveled far to make the oil money now they will have have travel to make near that. South and west Texas ain't the place to make money working for someone else outside of a boom unless you have the needed skills.

.98/L for gas and 1.04/litre of diesel, here in the Socialist Republic of Nova Scotia.
Lower gas is killing the Canadian dollar and lots of people are out of work. Personally it's better, but for the Country? Not so much. I do believe that money saved on gas/diesel though is still going into the economy in other area's so it's not all bad. I'll take the lower prices any day though, afterall prices of everything that's trucked in will lower too right? LOL!

It looks like we are way below the "nominal" inflation adjusted price of $2.62/gallon.

I paid $1.69 in Burke Va (right outside Washington DC.) over the weekend. I was surprised. Its still 1.81-1.89 here in southern IL. But if you go across the river to MO its been as low as 1.55.

Re: Gas Prices

As Technology Improves, and more efficient ways of production and transportation improve over the years......Prices hopefully will go down (Inflation
Adjusted) over the years on most Natural Resources.
Gas prices are still averaging around $2.50 to 2.70 here in Boulder City, NV.
Transporting costs are higher out West and the Additive packages are possibly more...................Who Knows?

You Boulderites and Las Vegans are getting ripped off John.
I drove to Las Vegas a couple weeks ago , the highest price the whole trip was in Las Vegas area, once you are out in the middle of nowhere on the way up to Wells it was much cheaper, like 40 cents cheaper in Ely and certainly transportation costs there are more.

Paid a whole dollar cheaper than Vegas in Twin Falls Idaho. Even far north Washington was 40 cents cheaper than Vegas.
