Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
My renewal went in the mail last night. The new info was posted late on 12-31.
My license expires 1-31-16. It looked to me like the same process as in the past just no physical this time. Still has to be mailed in. I believe the cost is the same also as 2 years ago except for the physical cost. This time they did not have separate costs for the National Dragster, but the total was the same. I look forward to the renewal on line without sending in forms and getting back a card however, the way the printing of National Event Tickets has gone that may not be something I really look forward to. I just need to get my license back before leaving for the Winter Nationals in February. Rick in TX |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Are there any ET or MPH limits on Sportsman level 5?
OK I see it now. The over 135 is level 4 |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
What Stock Eliminator classes require this?
|
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
The way I read it is everyone. For myself it's Type "B" (up to 125" wheelbase, Level "5" (slower than 135 mph & slower than 10.00) It sounds like membership & license are merged as expiration's pass. So since I didn't need a license before and now I do, membership/license just doubled to $120.00 per year, single category. Is this right?
EDIT : But the # is included. |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Since membership is now combined. How do you get a credit for membership already paid? Mine expires in 11/30/18

It looks like the same as in the past you just have a NHRA membership after your Competition License expires. They just force you to keep membership extension. Just the NHRA way take it or leave it. My 2 Cents Rick Cates |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
PER NHRA--- existing membership- licenses will be merged as they expire--- so it seems to me if it expires in 2018 that's when the rule will affect you--- but I'm reading between the lines here I think the catch all is if EITHER one expires before the other one NOT SIMUTANIOUSLY you will be subject to the new ruling-- FED 387

Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Question, in any Super Stock Class, does not need a medical. Is this the way I am reading this????

Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
I got my membership renewal yesterday and it expires 3-31-16. My license expires 1-31-16 and got nothing for it.
|
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Ok, but that's two months different. My license expire 11/30/15 and the membership runs to 11/30/18. 3 years, a bit of a difference.

Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
I have had a Competition License since the 80's and the only reminder of the expiration has been lately on NHRA Racer.com. Every so often they post a note to look at your expiration date.
I have always set my expiration dates for everything to be in December or January to make it easier on me. My License, belts, flexplate, shields etc. all expire in the off season so it is easier for me to keep up with. I am old and with expirations throughout the year would not be good for me. The License reminder would be something that should be easy to send a reminder via email as it is on Membership. The racer sends money in both cases to NHRA so it should be in their best interest to send a reminder for everything that the racer sends them money for. Should be a no brainer. Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
I have always been sent reminders in the mail for my competition license renewal. And not just 1, as I am not renewing until I need to. Our division office is local, so I go in to pay, unless that is the difference on getting notices I am not sure? The notice comes from Glendora.
I have the same issue with ND not being synced with my competition license. It would be nice to have the same date for both items when filling out a tech card. Since we have to subscribe to ND to compete, there shouldn't be an issue with correcting the subscription to match and be due at the same time as our competition number. Sean |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
I spoke with CA this morning. When you are ready renew your license call 800-859-9111. If your have a credit due because your membership didn't end when your license expired they will tell you the amount to deduct from the new fee structure. Since my membership was paid thru the end of 2018 I have a credit of $128 to deduct from the new fee's when I send in my renewal tomorrow.

Mighty Quinn: What about the number? Does it mention it anywhere?
Okay, I see it now..Thanks Dale $120 per year now? What was it last year? |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Since I'm out for another year with another back surgery my son will be driving next year. This will be a new license. The car will run SS/G or H with him. Is it just send the money in or ????. Hope to make 2 or 3 next year with him driving. Thanks.

I looked in my spam folder last night and found a message from NHRA dated the end of November informing me my License and Competition Number is about to expire. Actually it is January 31 expiration. Evidently NHRA is sending emails out about expirations. Sorry for not making sure I was making a true statement as above. A little Red Faced Rick Cates |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Just received a call from Cathy Dyson with NHRA in the license group that informed me they are syncing up all Licenses with Membership dates. I had mailed my renewal in on Jan 1 and my dates were a year apart. She asked me to let her tear up my check and use a credit card to make my lower payment to sync up the dates. That was easier for her than sending me back a partial refund.
She also told me that all new License Cards were 5 weeks out and I would not get my License until after I left for Pomona. I had let her know with a cover letter with my License application that I was entered at Pomona. She asked me to call or email her before I left and she would email me a Temporary License however, it is only good for 30 days. We are going to race Pomona, Tuscon, then both Phoenix races before returning home so I will need 2 Temporary issues to cover our trip west. I hope once everything gets synced up it will go smoother. Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
So much for the claim about reduced license fees in order to increase participation....
|
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
An official checklist outlining the license application procedure is available from NHRA at the link below:
http://www.nhra.com/userfiles/file/L...egulations.pdf To answer my own previous question, if your license requires passes, they must be completed and checked off on the application form before sending it in to NHRA. You would need to set this up with the track. kdanner: This was never about lowering cost. A hundred bucks a year is nothing at the track. It was about removing restrictions like medical exams that may have prevented some racers from participating. Dale |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
I just called NHRA as I am confused. My Competition numbers expire 12/31/16 my membership expires 1/31/17. So she told me to renew for 1 year and its 51 dollars for my first category and 10 for my second. And they will send me a 2 year license. I guess I'm getting a discount. Because its supposed to be 120 a year for the first category and 10 for the second. According to the license application. Either that or as usual they don't have it figured out yet. LOL
And they said I have to do this before the first race I attend this year. So I guess that means everybody has to do it. No matter when your stuff expires. |

$ 120 a year Wow I just went to renew my car number and it went from $ 50.00 last year to 120 this year. On top of that , there is no place on the form you can fill in your current car number. |
Re: new NHRA License cost 1/1/16
Cut and pasted from a July, 2 2015 interview with the new NHRA president:
http://www.racinboys.com/2015/07/02/...ident-of-nhra/ Q. You mentioned Sportsman’s participation. Is the increased media coverage also going to cover more of the Sportsman races? PETER CLIFFORD: There’s no plan on changing the coverage on the Sportsman races as far as from an hours standpoint. What we’re talking about with the Sportsman, increased Sportsman participation, is to ease up the requirements in order to participate at a Sportsman level. Our division directors, we’ve been meeting with them on a regular basis, and we have a plan in place in order to ease that up to increase participation going forward, so we’re going to make it easier for the Sportsmen to come race with us, and we have some really exciting announcements about that in the next couple weeks. I hope they don't "ease up the requirements" for us too much more and I hope he doesn't have any more "really exciting announcements". This is more excitement than I can afford. |

Thanks Dale. My membership number is different than my car number. ( 5 digits) Car number is 3777 I figured it out now. 120 a year includes both NHRA membership and the car #. I paid for one year's membership last month. My car number ( which NHRA calls Competion License #) expires 2/29/16 So it looks like I need to contact NHRA and get my membership fee pro rated before I send them money. |

NHRA would like to simplify billing for member racers by consolidating the renewal dates for both cards. If they are going to increase the drivers fee, I would at least like a fancier card. Gold foil. Laminated. Embossed. Maybe an embedded chip so all my paperwork was waiting for me when I pulled up to the gate every weekend. Dancing girls with flowers. Free beer and hotdogs. Covered pit stalls.... Dale |
