dart oil gallery

:confused:what size hole do you recommend for a dart little m oil galley plugs----i am running a roller lifter---7 qt. pan . is there any need with the new lifter designs?

I usually prime engine with drill to see how rockers are oiling and go from there,some darts take restrictors in front and rear, most restrictors you buy have .030''or .060'' hole in them.
If they was to not oil at oil you will need to pull lifters out and cut small groove from oil band to oil hole on lifter body, only need few thousands deep, I use mini die grinder or thinnest cut off wheel can get,may take a try or two to get oil flow you want.

With my Bowtie block and Isky Red Zone lifters, I had to do what Mike mentioned above here, to stop burning the top ends off my intake pushrods. Thanks Gary Hetler for that tip! I used a small 3 sided file. No restrictors. No more push Rod problems.
Having somebody like Mike Taylor help people here is great.

If your using roller lifter most if not all the oil is restricted all ready. Oil flow to the push rods works of oil clearance in the lifter bores. As mentioned if you need more flow you may want to cut a small slot from the oil hole to the band.

Have your lifters been fit to the bores ?? This sometimes is over looked.

What lifters are you using?

i am using comp cams longer lifters--they are for the dart block. i'm about to assemble it and i want to be right on the upper end oiling ---it is a drag car thanks

I'm assembling my little M sportsman now and after some thought decided to NOT restrict. Roller.
In fact , I'm not cutting the small groove in the lifters either. It'll probably move more than enough oil as is.

Becareful Comp lifter run to small compared to OEM lifters as I found them to be .841 instead of .842 like an OEM lifter.

Hopefully those are not the elite lifters as I was told they were discontinued.

Check the lifter bores for size against your lifters.......

I don't let any block out the door with out fitting lifters to the bores.

If you want to run a roller lifter that is to OEM size the Morel lifter are about the only ones out there.

Like Carl said whatever brand you use be careful,like I said before I always check oil flow by priming with drill,no matter if is new combination,one I am just freshening up,it can save you alot of headaches,what you take for granted will be what bites you.

My self and alot of other guys who pay attention to detail have not been so lucky with there sizing.

They were all over the place in sizing. I called Isky they were nice enough about it, I sent them back, when Carl got the new ones they were still all over the map. Paying attention to details pays off and when you buy ISKY lifters that are not with in a .0015 or better this is what you might see.
