NMRA Motorsport Nationals-combo race for Ford Stk and S/S
 

First the NHRA allows IHRA cars at one of their events, and now the NMRA is inviting NHRA class cars to one of their National events. :)

The NMRA will host a STK/SS combo race at the Maple Grove event.

This is great news !
The NMRA fans will get to see NHRA class cars up close at one their events ( I believe this is the first time this has been done)


Entry looks reasonable considering you get free entry into Sunday's bracket race for free.

The PA event is a bit of a drive for me, but I wish the NMRA had something like this for the Bowling Green event ;)

Nice race!! Double the purse and less entry than a div points race that includes a bonus race on Sunday using the same shoe polish. Every Ford on the right coast should be there.

Vic, I took a look back at the Friday qualifying sheets from Virginia in 2015. I counted 11 Fords; I have no idea how large the overall population is, but events like the Ford Motorsport Nationals have been known to attract cars that would not enter a LODRS or NHRA National event - for a variety of reasons. Tough not to run into a conflicting date when trying to schedule these deals. I will put it on my possible list - almost 30 years since my last one at the Grove.

I saw where it was posted on fb that the NMRA is using the Maple Grove event and the World Finals event @ Beech Bend this year as a test gauge to see if they will include these combo races in the future.

The Bowling Green event is the weekend before the Indy Fall Classic so that will work out great for me. :)

Yes Charlie, the payout looks good, the entry fee is very reasonable ( compared to the other racer entry fees) and it is an all Ford event so there is a wide assortment of Ford powered machines on the grounds.

I have been going to their World Finals @ Bowling Green for the past 15 years and it is my favorite event of the year. ( it is also their largest event)

I was the only class racer there last October running in Open Comp.
I didn't see any other class racer there running brackets, but there may have been.

I cannot make the M.G. event, but for sure I will be at Bowling Green.

I have been to a few of their events (yes-race a chevy but have worked at Ford Dealers 40 yrs) with employees race cars and can highly recommend them. You will be well treated and will find it a well run event. Will be a fun weekend. Go show 'em some class cars!

Do they tech a race like that? I suppose everyone dials, even heads-up?

Not sure about heads-up deals.


Probably like a lot of combo races and based on the honor system.

This is a great alternative for those who either don't tend to head down to Virginia or are looking for a low-stress, high-fun race to kick-off the year.

Benefits of this race include a great purse with $2,000 to the winner, a 4-hour window on Friday for open test and tune (make as many passes as you can get in), free entry to any bracket race on Sunday (which makes this a 2 race event for practice,testing, etc.).

Over the years we have attended many of the NMCA/NMRA races and Steve Wolcott and crew are an amazing bunch always willing to help the racers. This race is open to all year Fords and is worth taking a look at.

Glad to see they are allowing the IHRA cars...ALL of them I take it including Pure Stock, Crate Motor, and Stock GT.

The bottom of the flier says "Open to any legal IHRA or NHRA Stock or Super Stock car "
