Lost another racer. RIP Richard Mulhlenhardt

Sad to report the passing of Richard Muhlenhardt yesterday. If you met him, you had a new good friend. He will be missed by many many people.

Just talked to Rich last week at the shop, he was getting ready for this season with his truck. He was fun to talk to and will be missed.

We had 56 chevy in common. He drove a Black and Blue Stick 2 dr for a man from the upper mid west. Nice man. Sorry to hear this report. RIP Rich.

Re: Lost another racer. RIP Richard Mulhlenhardt

I was fortunate enough to have met Rich a few years ago at Brainerd. It was the divisional race where he unveiled the infamous 350/165hp Chevy/GMC truck combination. My dad (who knew Rich from way back when) and I went over and chatted with him a few times throughout the weekend. I'm happy to say I've considered him a friend since then.

Rich was a smart guy and it seems like he could chat with us for hours about horsepower factors, 'dime rocket' type combinations, cylinder head casting numbers, and so on. But I could always tell he had a big heart and I could sense how much he enjoyed being at the race track with all of his friends. The Stock/Super Stock community, and especially Division 5, has lost a great one.

I was lucky enough to have Rich as a friend for many years. I never saw him angry or say anything bad about anyone or anything. It will be hard not to be able to have him to bounce ideas off of. A true artist in the world of auto racing. God speed my friend and I hope you are in a good place.

Very sad to hear of Rich's passing. He was one of the first to come over and visit about the old days when I got back into racing last year.

Richard was a nice guy and a gentleman. He kicked my b*tt at Thunder
Valley last summer in Stock/SS Assoc. race. I am sorry I did not get to
know him better!
He seemed in good health and spirits then....... Does anyone know what
he passed away from?

Heartbreaking news for sure, I have known Rich for 30+ years, whenever we talked on the phone, a simple question turned into 75 minute conversations, about drag racing, usually stock eliminator, always enjoyable. Sad that I won't be able to anymore.

Rest In Peace ,Rich

Shocked and very much saddened to hear of Rich's passing. Knew him for many years and as many have said, there was not a nicer man anywhere. May he rest in peace.
