Rochester 4 GC for the Super 10
Racers,
When the Super 10 returns to service I am considering experimenting with a 4 GC carb. The engine I have can be clamed as a 1965 - 327/250 with only a carb change. Doing so means I could change from the 327/300/293 with the Quick Fuel 585 to the 327/250/270 with the 4 GC. This would allow the truck to race in "C" and be close to the weight break where as I am about 150 pounds heavy in "B" For those of you racing a 4 GC let me hear from you. Thanks, |

Re: Rochester 4 GC for the Super 10
I think we've pretty much established that for those looking to buy or pay someone to work on their carb, Dean is the man.
Now, my question is..Does anyone work on their own 4 GC's anymore? |
Re: Rochester 4 GC for the Super 10
Its been almost forever since Ive been in a 4GC but after getting a carb from Mike and a wideband in my car, Im doing the rest of my 2100's.

Re: Rochester 4 GC for the Super 10
Mark,
as with all race parts, the experience of development is a vital piece. I talked with Deano and while most of us can easily disassemble, clean, rejet, reassemble any carb the experience of knowing what to modify and how to modify is the key. Dean has years of experience in developing his craft and also a large pool of racer customers and feedback. He mentioned modifications to the booster cluster and how he selects tops, bowls, and throttle bodies for the most advantage, plus other setup/adjustments. Consider that the web site Jmark has where many pages of text and photos explain all the in's and out's of the Holley design. If a fellow desires he can successfully race prep a Holley with help from folks on that site. To my knowledge, there is no such information pool for the 4GC. Dean has done the development, paid his dues, and his customers gain the benefit of his development. So, in the case of the 4 GC, much time and frustration can be eliminated by paying Dean for his knowledge. |

Makes sense to me. Others may be looking for that ol' personal satisfaction thing still ,though. Then of course ,there's that budget limitation for some, too. |
