Prayers needed for Danny Durham (Geerhead55)
 

Danny has been dealing with cancer for about a year now. He is, and has been, very private about his condition. He is in a local hospital for a procedure that will help him. He plans to come home soon, but needs MANY prayers to help him, and his family, deal with this issue. I will give more info as I learn it.

Danny, my wife of 46 years has been fighting this terrible disease for 5 and 1/2 years now. I keep telling her not to quit fighting, as this along with plenty of prayers will the best answer, and God will make the final decision when the time is correct. Prayers are sent and will continue to be sent. Keep the faith, as there is nothing stronger than the will of God!!

We wish you a speedy recovery. While you are recovering at home, it might be time to roll out the 2016 edition of the ''West Coast Rule Book'', mine is getting a little faded.

I met Danny at a local cruise spot in Tacoma, WA quite a few years ago and consider him a friend. We both ended up in Mission for a LODRS race which included a Super Stock Hemi Shootout and he was kind enough to make copies of all the photos he took from the event.
I offered to pay for the copies but he refused.

We both raced at the 2005 Goodguys Nostalgia drags at Pacific Raceway, Danny in his Nova and myself in my Hemi Challenger, and had a great time cheering each other on.
Danny is a true gentleman and I always enjoy talking to him and seeing the pictures he has taken over the years.

He is definitely a huge fan of class racing and this website.

I first met Danny about 10 years ago, and always look foreward to seeing him when we go to Bremerton Raceway, where he often does some announcing duty. Stay strong, Danny.

I met Danny in 2014 at the Northern Class Nationals at Columbus. We had a lot of fun for those 3 days in May, and I consider him to be a gentleman and a friend. As I stated in an earlier post; my wife and I send our daily prayers.

Same as Bill Seabrooks, met Danny at the 2014 Autometer Class Nationals, he sat in with me while I announced the event a couple of times during the weekend. Even had him announce awhile, he did a fine job too. A real good guy who truly loves our sport, wishing Danny a full, speedy recovery!

Sorry for the delay in getting more info for everyone. I talked with Danny on Friday and he sounded good. We didn't talk very long as they had delayed his procedure until Friday morning. It was originally going to be done on Thursday. I let Danny know about the thread I had started for him and he was very happy with the results.

Thanks to all for the responses and to those that have just looked at this thread. I, along with Danny, am not surprised at the results, so far. Please keep Danny, and his family, in your prayers as he is not out of the woods yet.

I talked with Danny earlier today and he sounded good. He came home yesterday and is doing well. He had a good night of rest last night. He sounded very positive but tired because of a busy 2 days. I plan on visiting in person as soon as possible.

Danny said to give everyone a big THANK YOU for all the responses/ viewings of this thread.

Like some have said, Danny is a true gentleman, a great friend and a true lover of class racing.

I got a chance to visit, in person, with Danny this afternoon. His 2 sons, Adam and Aaron, were there along with an old buddy of his, Larry. We talked about drag racing, high school hijinks, life in general and plans for this year. It was a great time and Danny seemed to be really enjoying himself.

I updated Danny on the response to this thread. He was very pleased with the numbers and again said to say thank you to everyone. Great medicine.

I talked, by phone, with Danny yesterday. He sounded good and said the medicines are doing their jobs. Was going to visit in person but this weekend is full of family, so no chance. I will visit in person very soon.

I talked with Danny, by phone, the last couple of days. We talked about drag racing and all the guy stuff. He said that he had a couple of rough nights, sleep wise, and I told him that it comes with the territory.

He, again, wanted me to thank all of you for all the prayers and well wishes.

Thanks to all of you for the MANY prayers that were said for Danny. Unfortunately CANCER won this one. Danny passed away on Wednesday 3-23. He left this world a winner in the eyes of his many friends, and will be missed by all. His light will always be green in his lane from now on.
