JIM MARSHALL 03-30-2007 03:26 PM

You can use owner points. It is done all the time

LNorton 03-31-2007 12:32 AM

Yea, I used Dad's owner points to get in Briston SG in '03.

And wtf is Courtney Enders doing in a stick car? Are they trying to train her to drive?

Last I heard neither of them could drive.

Ed, I've used owner grade points in Div 7. They expire Jan 1 every year. They don't carry over.

I don't see the owner points as any issue. I also think it's cool that ANYONE gets with it with a stick. Too many folks run from the stick. Give the kid some credit, she has more stones than most of the 3 inch long delay button guys in stock do. http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif

Heck, maybe she will start a trend, not too many stick racers left out there. I for one encourage it. BTW, she was cranking gears in a SSer too. I think it is Scooter's old car right!
MAybe they will allow sticks in Junior dragsters?

Thanks God some rich guys haven't petitioned NHRA for a Pro Stock Automatic class. Ok , Ok, all you auto guys don't get too upset, it just isn't too often stick guys get to stick up for a young racer that actually races... a stick !http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif

Charlie Ford 03-31-2007 06:55 AM

She ran the Houston & Belle Rose Div.4 races.

stockracer 03-31-2007 09:21 AM

If she was a guy, or not an enders, would anybody really care?

icebrrrg 03-31-2007 09:31 AM

Hopefully the group that Courtney represents will increase in number in spite of the tremendous challenges. Yep...she's a stick racer! (BTW - I've always liked Scooter's car.) Best wishes Courtney...I'll be pulling for you!

Mark

LNorton 03-31-2007 09:44 PM

Don't say that everyone runs from a stick car. We currently run a stick car with a factory transmission. It has never been out of the car. I just want to know if this is a ploy to put her in a pro stock car with daddy's money.

What if it is a "ploy"? Is it better, worse or no different if the racer in question were a guy? Where would this sport be without "daddy's" money/influence...Tony Schumacher, Scott Kalitta, Kurt Johnson, etc.

Courtney's first passes in both were DQ'ed because both cars were light.

james schaechter 04-01-2007 08:10 AM

Lee, don't get your undies in a bunch! Reread my post. I just think that it is a heck of a lot cooler path for her to get her chops starting in a stick car and I think that is cool for anyone. The reality about her being a little rich girl is no different than most of the little rich boys that have done the same over time. Probably see her in a comp car with a stick soon if she can arrange it. If my daddy had her daddy's money, I would do anything! to get him to but me in one of their prostock cars and so would you I am betting! It beats having her hang out at the mall. I just think that anyone willing to go the stick route is very cool in my opinion since I race a stick and have a great time. Do the math Lee, there are only about 10% of us running stick shifts! We need more folks to realize what fun they can be. Most of the veteran racers ran stickshifts years ago. I guarantee, they busted more stuff and drove cars that were a lot harder to drive than any Jerico or Gforce car is to drive and maintain today. I am afraid that if our numbers get too small, we won't be able to maintain our class status.
To be totally honest, driving your car is probably a lot harder than the cars she is driving. I am 110% sure if I drove your car, that tranny would be out because I would miss 3rd and munch it!

Girls with sticks should be avoided....

One statement is funny, the other is true. But I'll less you decide which is funny and which is true! ROTFLMAO!

LeeB 04-02-2007 06:37 PM

I have been following this strand and have noticed some of the claims and observations about Courtney Enders driving Stan Holt's Stock and Super Stock cars at Houston. Just a bit of history--not long ago Stan had a severe accident where he nearly tore off two fingers from his hand. Knowing he could not drive for a period of time he looked for someone to drive the Lupe Tortilla/Roadster Racing cars that he has campaigned for over ten years. He approached NHRA and they said if he gave up his points for the year, Courtney could compete at this level. I won't tell you what Mike Bush (crew chief) said when I told him that there was some confusion of this issue this afternoon. So Stan cannot drive what has been one of the fastest SS/G ever in 2007 to give a chance to a fine young lady. If you have any other questions about this situation I will be glad to ask Stan or Mike for a response. PS...by the way Jim S. how cool is Scooter's car!!!! Lee B.

icebrrrg 04-02-2007 06:56 PM

Thanks for the insight Lee. Sorry to hear about the circumstances - best wishes to Stan as he recovers ftom the injury. Also best wishes to Stan, Mike and Courtney as they race this year. Stick it to 'em!!

I made the statement ! It's true boneheeeeed !`!~!....

I wanna get back racing. Got some points to prove and all...

I thought it was quite cool lto check in the results and seeing a Stick Chick in both classes. I kinda wondered if she was related to Erica the Pro Stock Chick and who's cars they were so i looked it up on the endersracing site.

I think it's pretty cool. If it's a stepping stone to Comp or Pro Stock i don't see why anybody should have a problem with that. Do you hate Dyno Don or Ronnie Sox because they "used SS" to further a career into the pro classes?

Maybe not. But she IS NOT a guy. And she is an Enders. And she's doing it the hard way with a stick.

All of which makes it quite interesting.

RIP

Yeah, the hard way! Daddy's money and somebody else's cars... Thats the dumbest thing I have heard in awhile...anyboby else wanna give this chic anymore thata boy's??? Daddy needs a son....

Bill Belden 04-04-2007 08:12 AM

Jason, do you drive a stick car? or should I say do you race?
Does she deserve an "attaboy" Yes, anyone who jumps into a stick car deserves one. Where the money comes from or who the parents are has nothing to do with it.

She had the Grade Points to get in on her own. WHY does it matter how she got the cars ?? Jason needs a LIFE .........

Todd Bailey 04-04-2007 10:48 AM

I'm just green with envy. Getting to race is one thing, getting to drive a stick car would be icing on the cake.

If Stan thought she was not qualified to do this, he would have put someone else in the car.

Randall Klein 04-04-2007 11:54 AM

Consider some benefit to NHRA "royalty" playing with the great unwashed masses in S & SS. Let's say Don Prudhomme had a nephew or niece starting out in Stock...it may not help our cause, but maybe the hierarchy would get a wiff of our concerns. Then again, probably not.

They say a rising tide lifts all boats....I say welcome to any "upper crust" racers that may offer us more recognition.

Similarly, there are some major $ guys in SS which some dislike, envy or curse, I believe it can only help when men of means suffer along with the rest of us with long days, pitting in another zip code, mud, irregular schedules, enhancements, being pushed around and so on.

She has more balls then a man because she drives a stick. HAHA!!! It is a free ride...who wouldnt take it. I respect anyone who drives a stick car, it is definatly a challenge beyond letting go of a button. But I get tired of hearing this stuff just because shes a girl. If anything a woman has a better chance in racing then a man. This maybe a little off topic, but did anyone watch driving force...I know, im getting tired of the ashley and john show too, but I watch it just because...BUT, Jonh said one sponser said they wanted her because of he name, another said they wanted her because shes a girl, but none said they wanted her because she was good! I am NOT taking anything away from this woman for driving a stick car or a free car or anything else, but its not that big a deal, guys drive them all the time!
